So, again, we need to journey back before Christmas- I might catch up one day! Just a short blog this one, so won't keep you long!! 19/12- mammoth journey day! We had to be up at 6am this morning to have breakfast, check out and get on the long tail boat at 7am. The long tail boat took us across to the ferry, which wasn't far away this time. Just a few people got on this stop, we decided to grab some seats whilst it was nice and empty! Bags in the corner again ready to be dumped upon. We stopped at Tonsai pier to pick everybody else up and get their luggage on...we then pulled alongside another boat, where more people proceeded to get on! We were worried about the time as we had a ... read more

For my second month of yoga on Koh Phangan I'm moving to a place called Benjamin's Hut. Friends, Nick and Anke, are joining me. They are in the nice, air conditioned rooms at the front, i'm in the cheap seats or “the stables” as Nick calls them at the back. Its motto is “Simple Place, Simple Life.” I like their style. However due to my brilliant planning skills I have a night in between I have to find a somewhere cheap to stay, so I opt for a bungalow on Happy Beach. I'm glad its only one night, i'm kept awake by the prostitute bar “The Honey Pot” that swings well into the early hours and then woken again by a chorus of stray cockerels in the morning. But oh... the beach is heavenly, white sand, ... read more

Arriving in Ko Phagnan we checked into our hotel. Our hotel had a perfect location and was walking distance to all the action. We had lunch on the beach and then went swimming. This was my favorite beach so far. The water actually had waves and the sand was phenomenal. That night we walked around town looking for where the action was. The town was like a ghost town with no one around. We finally found all the people. They were all partying on the beach. We watched a fire show and had a lot of fun. The next day we rented a scooter and checked out the island. We had seen signs that they had a "Wipeout" course here. We decided to do it. However when we arrived this was nothing like the Wipeout on ... read more

For the next few days we didn't do a massive amount, one highlight was unpacking our back packs knowing we won't be using it for a week (such a nice feeling), we rented a bike and explored our paradise further...... Spot of bouldering searching for some pretty tiny 'waterfalls'. We found some amazing views... Spent time watching the sun rise from the balcony Got chased by a dog on line of my morning runs (scars to prove it) Made some 'local' friends Found some cool quirky bars, their owners having just as quirky names to ensure theyll always be remebered.... We fell head over heels for this place, I'm going to share some of our favourite photos as they say a million more words than I could ever write....... read more

So since weve been in Koh Phangan we have been having beach days, hired a moped and have been exploring the island.. I had a go and was going really well until I went too close to the edge of the road to let a car past and the sand made me nearly skid over! Luckily I had pretty much stopped so it was fine. We went to the full moon party which was insain, thousands and thousands of people filling up the beach with loud music all the way down, millions of buckets of drinks and just craziness.. To make sure we didnt have another disaster with the camera and to ensure we didnt lose any pictures I bought a small memory card for that night so that if anything did happen we would still ... read more

The ferry arrived in Haad Rin, at the southern tip of Koh Phangan early in the afternoon and I checked into my pre-booked accommodation, the Family House, which was conveniently located next to the pier. I ended up sleeping most of the day as the journey, sunburn and mosquito bites took their toll. On venturing out in the evening, I immediately liked Haad Rin better than Chaweng. Even though the resort is set up entirely to cater for the needs of party-going travellers, it is more relaxed and free from McDonalds' and Starbucks'. I went for Mexican fajitas at a place on "Chicken Corner", where a number of food outlets are located. This got the attention of everyone in the restaurant as it was brought to me sizzling on a hot plate and on fire! Haad ... read more

There now follows an intensive month long period of 150 hours of yoga! Everyone has forewarned me about how intense it will be, hell the course is even called the First Level Intensive. You'd think that would be a clue! I get up at 7 to 7.30am most days, if I don't i'm awoken by the “sneezing woman.” I run to Agama (this had always been the plan when I booked in September) It only takes 20 mins but seeing all the yoga bunnies arriving cool and showered in their floaty white trousers with me all red and hot and sweaty in my adidas is not the most positive start to every day. Then the schedule is 830 – 1030 yoga. I then walk back or buy brekkie on the way which normally gets me back ... read more

So last time I wrote we were about to go and play pool before heading out for our first night in what felt like ages! We started of having a few drinks in our hostel to make it a bit cheaper and just before we were about to head out there was the biggest downpour of rain ever! It was the loudest rain Id ever heard and we were worried it wouldnt stop but luckily it ended as abruptly as it started and we headed off down to the strip of clubs and bars. We started at a little place on the side of the street called 'road side bar' and it was literally some plastic tables and chairs and a little side bar with music playing and was actually really good fun. We were going ... read more

Havíamos coberto boa parte da ... read more

When you have spent 6 glorious days on a gorgeous island and enjoyed it so much,it is always going to be a little painful to pack up your bags, nearly break your back trying to carry them and then embark on a day couped up on a sweaty minibus with a driver who has absolutely no idea of where he is going. On Boxing Day morning however,it was time for us to say goodbye to koh samet and move onto island number 2, Koh Chang for 2 days before heading down to the Southern islands. I'm not sure whether people would agree or disagree with my next statement but I feel that when you're lucky enough to visit these beautiful places, there is often a pressure in yourself to disregard any negative vibes and emphasise the positives, ... read more
