I'm a little late on my blogging, so the February holidays for Leslie are already two weeks behind us. 2016 and 2017, and actually all the coming years will be a little special for us, and for me. Tiffany has now been for the last two months happily studying in her new boarding school in South Africa. She is back home for few weeks in a few days time and I can't wait to pick her up at the airport! Little girl is growing up up...fast!
So why the next few years will they be very special? Well, simple, from now, I will continue to go around the world, but from time to time it will be only with Tiffany and from time to time, it will be only with Leslie....from time to time we'll be two, three...and even four! This may sound weird for a Dad who took four years to get his son back, and nine years to get his daughter back. But over the last two months, I found out that I made a great choice, for our future. I see today so many parents getting distant with their own teenagers, because they have not
much to share. Sharing my time between mainly two continents over the coming years, distance in miles will always be there...but we are actually so close to each others! Just for this, I'm a lucky man. I'm also discovering the chance of exceptional time shared with each of my kids for some very special time. This week it's with Leslie, in a few days time it will be with Tiffany.
Our children grow fast. Teenagers years are amazing time for them to grow as adult. They take their distance from us, leaving step by step the nest. My mission today, and tomorrow is to make sure that over the years, they will come back as often as possible to the nest...even if this nest may move from continent to continent over the coming years!
While in Lipe, we dive a little, eat a little, party a little...spend our time with friends a lot! This is high season, so our preferred pizza place is open again. The water is back to green and the visibility is not amazing...but who cares! Drift is serious...some macro on the way...we'll wait South Africa for more sharks!
This year, Leslie will have more dives and more countries diving than Tiffany...but Tiffany will for sure have a lot more sharks, and maybe some more. I'm only trying to give the best of everything to both of them...over the coming years...it's going to be a question of balancing...and yes, some great time still spend together...as often as we can...because we are family!!!!!
Next entry...it's Tiffany pictures...and no diving!
So today, it's Leslie turn to go on the road, or rather on the seas with me. If you have followed this blog from day one, you will note that this is not a first for us! Suddenly, I'm back few years in our past...boys trip! Well, this is not fully a boys trip, but you will discover more of it with time! Trust me, it's a nice story!
Last time we did a boys trip...the little guy...was young! Today at fifteen, he is an experienced diver...at home on the Forra boat...and under the water!
We fly on Friday after school to Phuket. I know, normally we are going to Lipe via Hat Yai airport. But for the
past few months, thing have nicely changed, and we are spending our Friday as guests sharing a beautiful evening. Saturday morning is up early. We are catching the ferry to Phi Phi. Antoine and his crew are picking us up after lunch....for some serious diving...and we'll stay on the Forra lievaboard all the way back to Lipe.
We spot the Forra boat from miles away, after all it's the only boat tilting slightly on his side...but we love it. Diving on the way will be at Bida Nok, Maya Bay, Shark Point, Kingfisher, Racha South Point and Racha Bay....than comes the long crossing all the way to our second home, Lipe!
Once in Lipe, it's back with few old friends....the Forra family is a big one, so lots of names! We are diving today with our friend Brad...and two french DMTs at the end of their training. Shall we feel sorry for them. It's only the second time they dive 8 Mile...and let's put it simply, Leslie is the youngest ever diver to have dive that challenging site. So when the DMTs find out that Leslie has dived this place 10 times,
and that we should be alright, it's kind of fun. On the first dive, they go up with another diver, while Leslie and I continue to dive the site with others....Forra, we are part of the family! And as would put it a former Forra dive instructor who has now left Forra, but still on my fb...your kids are rock stars!
Times fly, and we were soon back home. Holidays are not over yet, but Leslie had a week-end of rugby tournament in Bangkok. His team won some, lost some, great week-end!
Next entry, coming soon, with Tiffany!
