On Monday we left Pulau Langkawi and took a ferry headed to Satun, Thailand.
While waiting for the ferry to leave, we decided to try some local fruit that we had never tasted before. The first fruit we tried was Durian. I had heard of this fruit before and knew that it was known for its "stinky cheese" odor. The man who sold me the fruit told me that Durian is the king of all fruits in this part of the world and it is only in season for a few months (June - August). How could we not try the king of all fruit? Macayla had to really try hard to swallow her bite of the fruit. She definitely did not appreciate the pungent taste and odor. I did not mind the taste and it was easier to tolerate after the first couple of bites. I am not so sure I would purchase more.
The next fruit we tried was the Mangosteen which the fruit guy named "the queen of fruit". This fruit is sweet and more palatable. It has a similar color to the plum and around the same size, too. I really like the Mangosteen and

Another fruit that I purchased was the Dragon fruit. I have had this particular fruit in Belize before and I can honestly say that this is my absolute favorite fruit. I bought one when I was at Jungle Jims in Cincinnati but those are white inside. The dragon fruit with the purplish pink inside is a bit sweeter and I like that type better. Very tasty!
Lastly, the final fruit we purchased was Rambutan. We have had this before when in Central America and Macayla really enjoys it. They are funny looking with their oddly spiny outer shell but the spines are soft and pliable. Rambutan is easy to handle and similar to a grape on the inside.
Once we made it to Satun, Thailand, we took a bus to Krabi and then shared a taxi with two others to Ao Nang. It was dark when we arrived but we could definitely hear the waves crashing on the beach.
We ended up in the same hotel as the people we shared the taxi with since I had not booked anything in advance. I was happy that they had

It was the best room we had ever had since our trip began, but I should remember that not everything is as it seems. We had woken up in the middle of the night to any bedbugs crawling all over. It was extremely upsetting. It took the security guard nearly an hour to get us another room and then I was so paranoid that I kept waking up every 15 minutes the rest of the night to check the bed for more bugs. The next morning I went down to demand my money back but they would not do that so they gave me another night in the new room. I took it but I was still a little uneasy. We had no other problems in the new room, but we did see them steaming two other rooms that next morning trying to get rid of bugs. We are now in a new room tonight at Ao Nang Miti Resort and it is very nice. I am looking forward to a nice rest this evening.
Tomorrow we are going on
