Journey to Pai and Pai

We left lovely Chiang-mai and caught the minibus to Pai, costs 150 baht (a local,cheaper bus also runs once a day but takes longer). So they call it the long and winding road to Pai,boasting 762 turns and you feel everyone of them! We stopped for a break half way and some people were throwing up, Phil was made of harder stuff and got tasty fish on a stick and we both fueled up on coffee 😊. We stayed in a beautiful place in Pai, called Canary guesthouse, right on the river, in our own little bungalow. The owner was the sweetest woman who made a cracker of a breakfast! I got coconut french toast with banana and cream (not to be missed!). We had free tea and coffee which is every cheap ass backpackers dream! We fell in love with Pai, wonderful street market, great atmosphere and super friendly folk who were always smiling. We thought Chiang-mai was fab, Pai was the real deal 😊 We went on a trek out to the waterfall, you can pay for trek but we just chanced doing in alone and saving a few bahts! The trail starts a good bit out of town and others chose to bike it to the start. You cross the river many times and spend a lot of the time questioning if you are going in the right direction, there are some dodgy parts where you feel you may fall but its worth it as you have lots of fun. Its a long long way to the waterfall and we chose to stop off half way there and just cool off in the river and return. Best to bike it to the start so you have energy for the whole thing 😊
