my laundry that looked really pretty in the lighting - i didn't capture it but it was still pretty I know I keep saying this, but i cannot believe how fast time goes by here. This week especially feels like it hasn't even arrived yet because it came and went by so fast.. I don't know where it's going so fast..
Yesterday i spent almost the entire day sleeping for some strange reason. Probably because I rarely sleep at all here and it's about time its catching up with me. But I slept maybe 16 hours of the day and then at night four of the volunteers went out to the Chicago house again.. maybe you remember from my blog post called chuck Norris counted to infinity.. twice.
Well we went back there. This time the place was bumpin, there were a lot of people there- but unfortunately Opart wasn't around. I like this guy.
Anne ordered Sushi, Meg Pad Thai, Nat a drink and I ordered this like chillie spicy chicken on rice. It was quite hot but super good. I swear my spicy taste buds have gone up a lot. What;s going to happen when i go home and there is NO spicy food. Gin Dawg only likes spag and laz lol. Gin dawgs going to have
when mantic attack
hes the culprit who bit me- looking all innocent after I let him go in our plant.. to step up her cuisinary skills.
seriously Im on the verge of eating full chillies here in Thailand. Nee Shar- the head mistress at my school cooks me unreal but very spicy food for lunch every day. She literally only likes spicy and sour lol. Nothing sweet..at all..just like most other burmese people though.
Anyway three of us girls sang some songs. I broke the ice with Wild thing. IT was perfect because there were lots of Thai People that I don't thing understood the lyrics so i was able to be slightly inappropriate with my serenading skills without offending anyone. Then they put barbie girl on right after Anne Maries Mambo # 5 effort - and so we did a duet - I was obviously Ken with the man voice! It was sooo funn!
Today you guys want to know what i did? I freakin rented a SCOOTER!!! and spent the entire day almost trying to get lost. Unfortunately I wasn't very successful and some how found my way back to Mae Sot every time. I did manage to find two of the other volunteers school though which are like 30 ish minutes from the school. I
karaoke dessert
ahhahaha we asked for a dessert menu and they gave us the karaoke menu have no idea how I got there though lol.
It is so mind boggling how cheap things are here. To rent the scooter for roughly 30 hours its only 250 bht. that is 7..dollars... HAHAHHA WHAT AM I GOING TO DO IN CANADA>>>!??? If any one would like to contribute to my Vespa fund it would be much appreciated because I have A NEED FOR SPEED!!
I cannot even try to explain how amazing it feels to be on scooter all by yourself; wind thudding your ears; dark clouds breaking over the mountains just in the horizon with the sun finding a break every now and again to highlight your face....
it was amazing.
I will say that I might have been driving to fast..but the poe poe kind of don't go after white people for the most part. They are mostly searching for burmese people who are driving illegally...
I was driving illegally Don't tell them though 😉 haha
To fill up the 100% empty scooter it costed 100 bht ( 3 bones) and half that tank last me for 4 hours!!!
It is so funny the whole process of renting a scooter here. the photocopy your passport ,
nice
Anne and I trying to take an actual picture at Chicago place you pay, the end. The guy who handed it over to me spoke legit like 4 english words and didn't understand anything I was saying. I can believe I didn't crash.
It must be returned tomorrow by 5 pm so I have another day with it! So pumped!
Thursday I had sucha random day. skyped Louis in the morning then went to the post office and GOT A PACKAGE FROM LOUIS!!!! I was so excited 😊, he told me he sent one a while ago but the post office messed up and they almost lost it ( what the told me on the previous tuesday) So I was so happy biking home that when i drove by a woman begging with her baby at a pickup trucks window I slammed on my breaks and went up to her and said " are you hungry!!!!" in a way to enthousiastic way.
She nodded. I said "okay" and I started walking with her to the closest restaurant. Little did I know she called over her other begging woman friend ( and baby) and then some random 6 year old boy came aswell.
I bought all of them each a meal for
Mambo # 5
Anne trying to sing a song wayyyyy to fast for her hahahahaha only 50 bht.. that is so cheap its crazy.. and it was a lot of food. They nodded and said thank you and I peaced.. Right after my bike broke though ahha. For the second time that day. NO worries, life paid it forward to me becuase when i took it in to get repaired they fixed it for free.
Unfortunately I had to wait ALL day to open my package from Louis because we had agreed to do it on skype ( lame I know don't judge- long distance sucks)
SO I waited alll day and then FINALLY got to open it. He sent me two boxes of crayons ( my FAVOURITE writing utensil) two books by Patrick Senécal who is a Quebecoi author. I had just finished a 400 pg book by him so he sent me two more ( I really love the authors writing style).
Before I lef t for Thailand i went to visit him in his home town Amos. There is an INCREDIBLE Cathedral there that he took me to visit becuase he knows I love church and God, so the last thing he sent me was like a pendanty kind of thing
should not have tried this
me driving on the scooter- I am soo bad ass in a plastic debit sized card that has a picture of the Cathedral on the front and he wrote me a really nice message. 😊 He is the best boyfriend ever!!! You guys should all be jealous!!
My favourite part was the letter though.
A praying mantis bit me the other day. It was kind of my fault though because I picked him up from the middle of the road so no one would run him over and placed him on my shoulder.
When i got home Barbara was taking pictures and he went CRAZY ( mantis' are very sensitive to dramatic lighting changes) and attacked barbara; she screamed and dropped my camera and then when i went to pick him up to let him go he ATTACKED me fingers and BIT them hard. I screamed and backed off lol. We had to escort off the premises for his bad behavior.
My mom just bought a condo.. Im pretty sure. She put an offer in on one and will be renting out our house to loyalist students who are sick of living in rundown rat infested mouldy shit holes.. like I am with Carl and his asbsetos cardboard
Thank- You
the cards box houses. This means that when i get home I will be moving into two different homes in two different provinces. Interesting.
Last couple things than Im out: An elderly man donated each of the volunteers 25 dollars which was super kind of him and we were told by our Project Coordinator to send him a post card of thanks. So what I did was I cut 8 4 x 6 size cards out of cardboard and had a competition with my grade 4 students to see who could draw the best pictures. At the end of the class we voted and the top 8 were selected for the post cards that would be sent. When i got home I wrote out the words THANK YOU in giant bubble letters and cut them out to glue each letter onto an individual card. Then i made a 5 x 7 and wrote a personal message on it, ( a specific student had drawn a picture on this one) I laminated them all and mailed them on separate days so that he would get LOTS of postcards!!! Isn't the fun!!! I love doing things like that!
Anyway Im going to
Thank- You
the letter side read my french books that my amazing, wonderful, kind amazing boyfriend sent me; listen to french music and be thankful for this experience!

Long time
Hey Katy Mula (like your new name!), Mitch was just visiting our land of chocolate and cheese and shared your blog with me. Nice to see you are having a great time and experiencing Thailand in its different shapes and forms :) PS. there is no going back on the spicy taste buds. I carried a bottle of tabasco in my purse for a few months after I came back from Pakistan. Renee
