We stopped off at Lampang before moving onto Chang Mai and got to go to the local Elephant Conservation Centre just out of town.
The centre houses elephants that are redundant from the tree logging days. At the centre you can watch the elephants be washed in the morning and feed them after their wash. There is also a show in the day, which shows the elephants doing a variety of things that really elephants wouldnt do if they had a choice! you can also have a ride around the centre on the back of one if you desire.
Jess was really interested in the conservation side and looked into doing a 2 day course where you learn how to look after them but after seeing that it was more entertainment for humans than conservation for elephants she declined the idea!
It was a great day but to see animals that have wondered the earth for millions of years reduced to kicking a football was shameful! unless your a football fan (maybe they should be getting the big bucks!😊
