Bamboo Rafting
Maetang Elephant Camp. Having a great time in Chiang Mai,everyone is enjoying the cfooler weather though a friend who lives here told us that last month was the hottest she could remember in 60 years!!! Our guide Noom took us to Doi Suthep temple on top of the mountain after picking us up from the airport. The temple was built on top of the mountain after a white elephant who was carrying a relic of Buddha climbed the mountain, trumpeted 3 times & died. Its so beautiful & peaceful there & Noom knows all the history. Saturday we did Maetang Elephant Camp, it was Kenny's birthday & he really enjoyed it.The show as very good, its well organised & the elephants seem well cared for.We had an ox cart ride that went through the village, good on the road but very rough on the tracks, glad transport has improved a bit.The bamboo rafting was soo relaxing we could have stayed on all day though we did start to burn as the sun kept coming through the clouds. We were lucky it was an overcast day so very pleasant. Did the King Cobra show & Orchid farm on the way back. A lovely day then
Buddha double.
Doi Suthep Temple. hung out at 'Malleys irish Bar for dinner.Lovely & cool, good tucker & drinks.Today some of the group are doing the Gems, silk, timber, & umberella factory. The umberelle factory also houses many artists who will paint your shorts, hats, camera bags etc for a very small fee & they are very talented. The ones we had done a couple of years ago are still fresh looking.
