our transportation
So my alarm didn't wake either one of us up, so we got down to our 8:30 pick up a couple of minutes late. They'd already been by, so we had to wait about 20 minutes for them to come back around. We loaded into the back of a truck and headed off with a French couple, a German couple, and two Spaniards.

Our first stop was on the side of the road basically and was a butterfly and orchid farm. There were hardly any butterflies in their enclosure, but the orchids were pretty -- they hung like vines and didn't have any roots in the ground. After that we went to see the elephants. We had probably 15 minutes with two elephants before the others came back and we could ride them. Ronald and I got an elephant named Pinky and rode her to our next stop (I sat on her neck, he was on the bench thing) where we then took a cage across the river via a cable and then hopped in the truck to have lunch. We were served balls of noodles wrapped in banana leaves and some cut up pineapple and watermelon...it was all really

good. Then we walked for about an hour to see a waterfall and spent about 20 minutes swimming in the cold water and just sort of hanging out. Ronald was unlucky because he was wearing flip-flops, so on the way back was barefoot for most of the time because it was sort of dangerous in some parts. Then we went to go "white water" rafting and bamboo rafting. When we were sold the tour we were told this would be about an hour, but it took maybe 30 minutes. It was pretty lame, but I thought the bamboo raft was neat.

My favorite part were the elephants because I'd never touched one before and their skin is so thick and tough except for behind their ears. Also, they have hair on their heads and backs that are super hard. We fed them little bananas and had a good time being with them.

The French couple had paid to see the long neck village, but Becky had told us to stay away from that because they apparently didn't start doing that until all the tourists came. The men don't do it, only the women.

Tomorrow we have a
