Casual racism is fine over here Hi guys. Just to update you on how we're getting on. After we last updated you, we spent another couple of nights on Sukhumvit Road which was all in all pretty sleazy but a good laugh. Most of the people we met however were 50 year old western men with Thai brides. Bad craic. On the Sunday we travelled on the Sky Train to a huge (10,000 stalls) outdoor market. Ridiculously hot though so didn't stay too long. That night after quite a few beers we headed back to the hotel and decided to play poker and thought it would be a good idea to raid the mini-bar. A bottle of Johnnie Walker was the last thing we needed! Needless to say, checking out cost us quite a bit!!
Travelled to Khao San Road which is where the majority of backpackers seem to congregate. Found a hostel near by and set up camp. From there we ventured around and sampled the local bars. Met a few brits and ended up getting a few buckets (half a bottle of local whiskey + "red bull" + coke = carnage!). Ended the night dancing on pool tables, which Joey fell off, and going

Mental market back to the hostel slightly worse for wear! Spent next couple of days continuing to sample the local nightlife and booked ourselves on a train north for the Wednesday evening.
Train was definitely an experience! It was pretty grimey and hot at first but once we got moving we had a wander and found the "groovy carriage" which was hilarious. Basically it was a bar on a train where people drank, smoked and danced (including the ladyboy staff!). We have a brilliant video of it on the camera but we're struggling to upload it so might have to just wait for that one! After the groovy carriage closed we headed to our bunks! A quick game of cards decided that I'd be sleeping in the comfier bottom bunk instead of the frankly dangerous looking top bunk!
15 hours later and we've now arrived in the Northern city of Chaing Mai. It's much smaller than Bangkok with a more relaxed atmostphere and plenty of friendly people. Booked into hostel which is about a fiver a night with air-con and a pool. We've now planned the next few weeks of our trip and our visas for Laos and Vietnam are

Not even rush hour being processed. Will be going to a championship Muay Thai (thai boxing) in the city stadium tonight (ring side seats of course!) with quite a few of the people we've met so far. Tomorrow we're booked in on a 3-day jungle trek just north of the city so wish us luck! Will be riding elephants, rafting down big rivers and staying with the local tribe people. Can't wait!
Hope you're all well and keep in touch.

Hey dude
Looks like you guys are having a great time, doesn't sound like your money will hold out though the way you guys are knocking the drink into you he he. Hey guess what, the Irish dude Paul got back in touch, im meeting him next Friday, well that was up till 2 days ago, haven't heard from him in 2 days but he will be in touch if he knows what is good for him, if he doesn't then its his loss he won't be getting another chance. Work as usual here, just finished the SFR which will be published on 29th September. Ryan joined us this week, he is quite cool, laid back just like you so its like you are still here really. The 3 day trip you are on sounds like lots of fun, if you saw Primeval last night doubt you would get on an elephant. Love Lisa xxxxx
