November 27th - December 27th It is hard to describe my month of yoga in all of its true essence. I chose to study traditional yoga, searching for something real and authentic, but not wanting it taught as a religion, and in my search found Wise Living Yoga Academy. In truth, I didn't know what all that would entail at first but after receiving a pre-arrival assignment, learned I was in for something a bit different than what we call yoga in the west. I lived and studied at Wise Living Yoga Academy with two amazing teachers, Daniel and Jeenal, explaining to us what yoga is. Daniel and Jeenal studied and received a blessing to teach what they have learned from The Yoga Institute in Mumbai India (the oldest school for yoga in the world). Our ... read more

Like most journeys in Thailand there eventful and our one to Chiang Mai was no exception we got to the station where we booked our ticket with plenty of time to spare so dropped off our bags at the office and went to get some food, walked in to a little cafe sat down and had the weirdest and scariest waiter/person iv ever met, he was very camp, with his face painted white?, big bulging eyes, and kept screaming in the highest pitch kap koon kaaaaa(Thank you) while trying to get his head as close to your face as possible, he looked like a deranged clown a very friendly one, it's properly the most scared iv been on our whole trip. After this we grabbed our bags and got a taxi with two lovely guys from holland ... read more

We flew in to Chiang mai on Thursday 3rd October and arrived to a hotel filled with a mental amount of Asian furniture, statues, and random trinkets.. Not expecting that kind of decor for a tenner a night! Room big, air con working and free WiFi - immediately booked to stay there the next 2 nights! Happy days. Chiang mai brought - more delicious food, countless temples, Thai massages (owww but so good!), markets I had to be dragged away from (although bankrupting ourselves in Thailand would be a mission!), chats with ridiculously friendly locals on the street and more funky bike/side bike inventions. It's crazy how quickly you become used to the sights, and the way of life - casually dodging mopeds with a family on and bartering when buying anything. Even getting kinda used ... read more

Matt and I are so glad that someone suggested a night on a junk boat in Halong Bay. This was a vacation within a vacation. It was a rather long bus ride (3.5 hours) one way, but well worth it. It is foggy season in Halong Bay, but that almost made it more majestic. The bay consists of hundreds of small (mostly uninhabited) islands that just are spotted off the coast. There are some amazing caves on some of the islands that we got to explore, as well as kayak around the floating fisherman villages (complete with schools and dogs!). I am quite proud of myself for eating so much seafood (I am still not at the point were I enjoy it yet). We are meeting a lot of Austrailans on this trip, including 4 friends ... read more

Hello All. I am writing this from Chiang Khong, which is the border town before we head into Laos tomorrow. Its been 5 days since our last blog, and what a manic 5 days it has been. We left Bangkok last Saturday morning on the 8:30 train to Chiang Mai...we were told this would last 12 hours - but it turned out to be 13....13 hours of dodgy A/C, dodgy cold sweetcorn soup, dodgy men playing with cap guns, dodgy things falling off the train, and just about dodgy everything really. But we did eventualy arrive in Chiang Mai at c. 9:30pm....unfortunately it didn't get much better very quickly. We eventually rocked up at Green Tulip House in Chiang Mai at around 10:30pm, and I have to say that in all my travels it was pound ... read more
