After a long drive and then dinner tonight, Sally, Colin, and I decided to leave our lodge at the border and check out the town. There really wasn't much to see. The town must close down pretty early because the only things open were a few bars (with tourists in them) and guesthouses. We were surprised how big the town was, though, as it even had at least two temples.

We wandered down to the river, only a block off the main road. We walked along the river, taking in the view of the twinkling lights. Eventually we found a bar on the river with great views. So we sat, enjoying the full moon and views of the Mekong and Laos. It's a strange feeling knowing that you're looking at a country you've never been to but will be in the next morning.

Then we walked back to our lodge, the silence almost eerie.
