End of our last nightäs sleep in this bed for a while.
No bread left so Jai makes some pancakes for breakfast whilst I strip the bed for laundry later.
Pad stops by to say goodbye. He leaves with a bag of pork, some large tomatoes and a bag of chillies so is glad that he came.
We finish packing and putting stuff in boxes then try to find space for it all in our bedroom. We are trying to leave the spare room as free as possible so that Jais daughter can use it when she visits in our absence.
I bike over to saz goodbze to John but he has gone into Phon Thong.
Last trip out to the farm where we pick some more baby toms, some chillies and Jai finds two fish in the trap so her mum gets something to eat as well. The trees are suffering in the heat but there is nothing more we can do for them now.
Stop at the temple on the way back so that Jai can show me the spirit houses they places there last week.
Back at the house I give the bike a last wash and once dry roll it into the
rice house along with all the garden tools, hosepipe and anything else that is lying around. Tight fit.
I have been pretty good this time and give the tickets etc a second check ß it is usually a twenty second check !
We get the septic tanks emptied and sit back to watch the minutes tick past.
John and Erm pop in at 3 o clock to saz goodbyes.
A light snack, shower and change and we readz and wiating when the taxi arrives about 5mins early. Fin comes to say goodbye. She was going to come to the airport with us but has a bit of a temperature and is going to the docs instead.
We leave Khamnadie on the dot of 1700 and drive the 50km to the airport just outside Roi Et. Our flight isnt due to leave until 2005 but as we pull in at the airport I get a text from Nok Air saying it has been rescheduled for 2035. Oh well, a bit longer to wait. The airport is in darkness when we get there apart from one person working at a coffee stall and one person at the Nok Air desk we are the only other people there.
We settle down in front of a large TV for Jai to watch her nightly soaps. At least there is good aircon.
The airport slowlz wakes up and eventually there are 34 people checked in for our flight. When the gate opens we have to walk across the tarmac to a twin propeller aircraft that appears to have seen better days. The safety instructions inside identifz it as a SAAB 340B Plus and I will have to look it up on the internet later if there is a later ! We rattle across the tarmac and for the first 10mins we are shacken all over the place and fear for a horrible hour flight. After we have levelled out things get a bit better but it is never going to be a pleasant trip. We land at Bangkok Don Muang at 2150 and are glad to be back on the ground. We bus to the terminal building where onlz a few of us have to wait for baggage.
We take a taxi to the New Siam II Guest House and check in to our room for 6 nights.
TV advertises Man Utd v Olzmpiakos at 0245 in the morning so I set the
alarm and settle down to get a few hours sleep first.
