After a month of being on the island, we decided it was about time for a great escape. Lala, Lauren and myself packed up our bags and jetted off to Saraburi to visit our friends Deana and Lainie. Our journey started right after school. We called our favorite cab driver Yao and piled in 7 people deep since Lauren's parents were also flying with us to continue their Thai tour in Bangkok. We arrived in Bangkok a few hours later and walked down the car service lane to try to find a cab that would take us to Saraburi, about an hour away. There was a bit of a language barrier, and every time we said we were trying to get to Saraburi the drivers would look concerned and say "not good for you to go." ... read more

It’s been 2 weeks now, since I left London. I’m still trying to get used to the heat the rain and the amount of food mommy has been eating...(not much space for me to do some exercise anymore.) It's still raining and doesn’t seem like it’s going to stop anytime soon. Our ranch, near Khao Yai national park, is now under water. I've not yet got a chance to visit the place. I'm so looking forward to it. Near our house in Saraburi, some of houses are having trouble with water. Since the rain hasn’t stop after 4 days of heavily pouring, some of houses in the same street are (kind of) under water. Grandpa said we’ll be fine because our house sit higher than the main street level, unless the water comes from the river, ... read more

Happy birthday, daddy!!! So glad seeing you on camera this morning. And thank you Uncle Ahmed for buying you a webcam as a birthday present. Hope mommy and I were the first people to say happy birthday to you. I wish I could be there to celebrate your birthday but unfortunately, I'm in a far far away land. Mommy told me we could celebrate your birthday again when you arrive. I can’t wait. What would you like for your birthday? I am not yet able to afford anything expensive, so hope you will understand. I’m so sorry I've not updated my bloggie for a while. Mommy and I have been so busy seeing the doctor (We have another appointment this evening). And also mommy has been busy working on the thesis. I think she told you ... read more

Dear daddy, Thank you for calling!!! It meant sooooooooo much to me....... I arrived at grandma and grandpa yesterday at about 4 p.m. Thai time. We took a taxi from the airport which cost 2,000 baht. (60 baht for £1) People are driving in the same side of the road as in England. The journey from the airport was not too great. It was just too hot and the taxi driver was blah-ing all the way. We drove pass a lot of weird looking buildings and there were a lot of motorbikes everywhere. Couple of times I was amazed seeing 4 people on those tiny little vehicles. It took about 1 and a half hour to get to my grandpa and grandma’s house. They were so surprised seeing mommy and I. Grandma ran from the house ... read more

It's 7 a.m. (get out of your bed and go in the shower...the beddie time is over!!!) My very first flight will be landing in Bangkok within an hour. My plane has already entered Thai air territory. I'm so excited about being aboard for the first time. Mommy said it's going to be a place that I will be born and living for a bit before we move back to the GB (mommy said it means Grumpy Britain). Seeing through mommy’s eye from the plane when it's now beginning to get lower to the ground, there was not much things at all to see apart from the green and some straight lines which apparently are roads. It's so different from England, the place I feel more used to. I can feel the heat already and mommy ... read more

Well actually I lied because I meant to say that I would do one other post to catch everyone up to today. This will be about thing done since I have arrived and a bit about the culture. So thursday then. No water. Tom took me around the school and showed me many of the buildings - where he had class, where he studied, etc. Also got to eat in the cafeteria and really enjoyed the food. Weird though, they eat nearly the same kind of food for every meal. At home we are used to having distinct types for each meal but here I cannot tell the difference between any and all include rice. It is however a very healthy kind of eating. Rice is the base for all and of course lots of spices, ... read more

I have been here for 5 days now I think and have done a lot. The first blog only covered day 1 and I cannot write that much for everyday but it seems like there is just as much going on. This will be the last time I can post anything for about 10 days as I have spotty access to the internet and will be away traveling. The next day was Thursday and I kicked back and stayed put. Tom has classes but the slacker only has 2 so he still has plenty of time. I had hoped I would sleep in but I woke up at 7, something that I still do despite my best efforts. Nevertheless, jet lag has never kicked in and I haven't once been tired until maybe 10PM. This was ... read more

Sunday night I left the US for the first time since 2003 and again crossed the world; this time to Thailand. I left Sunday night, arrived Wednesday afternoon.... a long flight. With spirits high, I hopped a plane from Seattle bound for a 14 hour flight at 1:30AM. Tapai, Tawan was the next stop and from there strait to Bangkok. On neither flight did I sleep much, maybe 3-4 hours off and on but it was comfortable and there were personal screens on which to watch movies or shows of my choice. I finally got into Bangkok at 1:30 in the afternoon and went through customs and immigration then went outside dreading what I would face... taxis. I was not looking forward to jumping into one of the craziest cities in the world on my own ... read more
