30/07 to 09/08: Bangkok We are back to Bangkok for a couple of days. We stayed at Baan Hualampong Guesthouse nearby the central train station which we arrived from Malaysia. The surroundings are very nice and cosy - just 1 minute walk from the main street but so peaceful and quiet and green.
We meet with Leon a Dutch guy leaving in Chiang Mai and working in Thailand as a journalist and hoping to get a house in a little paradise ( we like to keep it secret). The man is an interesting and misterious guy and has a great life story . We also met with Gillian, from Edinburgh. We shared our travels'experience and also gain some advice for India and places to stay.
02/08 to 05/08: Koh Samet As planned we meet up with our friend Chas from Taiwan coming back from his trip in Europe during the school break holiday. We headed south to Koh Samet Island. We reached the place by a almost 5hours bus journey from Bangkok and a 20 min bouncing speed-boat trip. Accomodation is basic but we are near any commodities which is fine enough. Koh Samet is
small island which can be discovered by bike in 1 day. Locals come here to relax during week-ends. The island itself isn't that great. Yes there is facilities but at some point we were looking for a quieter place with some authentic site and beaches. We did find a little gem - they take no reservation, got no phone and no email. that's the way to go to preserve a nice place.
06/08 to 07/08: Pattaya Chas' dad lives in a nice house with his thai wife. We have been invited to stay along for a couple of days so we chilled out and went to crazy "walking Street" -specialized in strip tease and so on. This place is famous for that. Interesting but not to be enjoyed with your family and your kids. Some tourist may not be alert of this street but I've been a bit shock to see family with their kids hanging around like this this attraction and normal. For me it is the typical example of the exclavagisme of the sex and the opportunity for some people to make some durty money. Anyway you need to have a good credit card
there as a drink is minimum 400 Bht! Just for a beer in some establishment!
06/08 to 09/08: Bangkok We meet again with Leon and Gillian as we are back on the same street in the opposite guesthouse of Baan Guesthouse ere we lodged on our previous stay - Your place Guesthouse . We took it easy and spend times with Oh and his family. Oh has got a little café near the tube station and he does simple thai cooking. There we tried to understand how Thais cook and what spices they use. Got one good recipe now, will try once back home!
30/07 au 09/08 : Bangkok Nous sommes revenus à Bangkok pour quelques jours. Nous sommes restés à Baan Hualampong Guesthouse à proximité de la gare centrale par laquelle nous arrivons depuis la Malaisie. Il y a un certain calme dans cette impasse agréable et paisible. Les proprietaires ont installé de nombreused plantes grasses qui créent un petit pavillon vert au -dessus de nos tetes... un petit coin de tranquilité dans cette grande Bangkok.
Nous rencontrons Leon un néerlandais journaliste vivant à Chiang Mai en
Thaïlande mais dans l'espoir d'obtenir une maison dans un petit coin de paradis ( on tiens a rester discret). L'homme a une vie tres interessante et papitante qui n'a pas ete facile. Nous avons également rencontré Gillian, d'Édimbourg et avons partagé nos expérience de voyage et aussi obtenir des conseils pour l'Inde et les endroits ou dormir.
02/08 au 05/08 : Koh Samet Comme prévu, nous retrouvons notre ami Chas de Taiwan, revenant de son voyage en Europe durant les vacances de pause scolaire. Nous nous sommes dirigés vers le sud jusqu'à l'île de Koh Samet. Nous avons atteint la place par presque 5hours autobus depuis Bangkok et une croisiere de 20 min en speed-boat...rebondissant avec une arrivee un peu a la James Bond car dans la nuitet sur la plage. L'hébergement est basique mais nous sommes près de petits magasins. Koh Samet est petite île qui peut être découverte à vélo en 1 jour. Les locaux (Bangkok, Pattaya...) viennent ici pour se détendre pendant les week-ends. L'île elle-même n'est pas grande ni jolie et nous cherchions un endroit calme avec du caractere et un peu d etranquilité. Nous l'avons trouvé le petit bijou juste un jour avant
de quitter l'ile! - la,ils ne prennent aucune réservation, pas téléphone et donc pas internet... C'est le chemin à suivre pour préserver un bel endroit.
06/08 au 07/08 : Pattaya Le pere de Chas vit dans une belle maison avec son épouse thaïlandaise. Nous avons été invités à rester pour quelques jours.
Pattaya est apparement connue pour sa fameuse "rue de la marche" ou encore strip-tease St! Intéressant mais est-ce un endroit a visiter en famille a 22h00? !
Un peu choquant de voir des familles se balader au milieu de ce milieu escalavagiste, macho et pervers. De toute façon, faut etre blindé car une biere dans un etablisement c'est minimum 400 Bht ! 1 biere, oui, oui !! on reflechit a deux fois avant de sortir sa carte!!
06/08 au 09/08 : Bangkok Nous rencontrons à nouveau Leon et Gillian comme nous sommes logés dans la même rue que notre precedente residence Baan Guesthouse nommée - votre place Guesthouse. Nous nous sommes reposés et avons passé du temps au café de Oh et sa famille. Oh a obtenu un petit café près de la station de métro et il fait une
cuisine thaï simple. Nous avons pu voir comment il prepare la base de sa cuisine. Nous avons une bonne recette en photo, on essayera a notre retour!
