By morning
Hello...just catching up after 4 days in humid buzzing Bangkok...
We caught a bus on the 20th (that was 5 hours) to the "nearby" town ofTtrat in the southeast of thailand, quite near to the Cambodian border. It was quite a shock to see hardly any tourists there, and the ratio of Thais to farangs was so refreshing after khao san!!
We managed to get ourselves into a lovely guesthouse that was amazingly 100baht a night(about $4 nz) and after checking out the spectacular Trat night market, (and ez sweating and crying from some praticually hot chillies), settling into a night of James Bond in the "Pop Guesthouse" beergarden, and chating to some nice english guys.
The next day was spent much the same, relaxing and me walking around the little side sts in the nice town (ez's tum was still giving him grief from the killer chillies). We made friends with the thai-cambodian boy, "dum" who was the unofficial waiter and go to boy. He was a spunky 14yr old that kept bringing us bananas and mimicing james bond, very cool guy.
The next day we said goodbye to Trat (with the intention of going back) and took of to the rapidly developing island of koh chang.
We in vain tried to find a place to stay, (at about 8 pm in the DARK) in the grossly touristy settlement of "lonely beach", and eventually found ourselves at a peculiar place "The Lemon Bar" and found ourselves a bungalow..the owner (we think) was probably born a man...
...as for now he was definatly something quite different- and so our first experience of the famous thai "shemales", although a perfectly lovely guy..erm..girl.
The next morning we decided to take off to the remote western side of the island and packed up early, as we headed out the door our host and 14 other thais we sitting on the ground having a meal, and a buddist monk was sitting over them on a raised platform eating from his own pot. Our host, "patrick" was devistated we had only stayed for one evening and to compensate invited us to sit down and enjoy the vast array of food in the bowls on the bamboo mats. It was a very interesting meal and trying not feel too out out of place was'nt hard, everyone was so friendly and welcoming. At the end of the

meal the monk gave us white string bracelets to protect us from harm and keep us from danger!
Our next destination was "Long beach" a "bohememion" plc that was on the sea and miles from anywhere!!! We stayed in a treehut (made out of bamboo and ereted on stilts), and for the for the first time in thailandhad no fan (a great loss). The mossie net prob saved my life, after a few hours (esp in the twilight) i started to resemble a pin cushion. There were beautiful coconut palms, a dazzling beach and not much else! We spent 5 lazzzzzzzzzzzzy days there, about 80% of them were spent in the seawater which was LUKEWARM and getting thoughly burnt.
After a while the location got a bit tedious (i got a tummy bug), and our ichy feet got moving again.
From Long beach we caught a ferry to the nearby island of Koh Wai, a smaller, but no less tropical island. We spent 2 days in agony, as ez caught my bug and proximity to the squat toilet became vital to our location on the beach. A nicer place than Long beach, we couldn't enjoy the amazing white sandy

beaches and jungle, we went for a short trek but didnt have the engery to check out snorkling with the amazing tropical fish in the nearby coral. We chatted to a swede guy and dutch girl, plus some frenchys, thailand so far is much more hospitable, friendly, social and full of farang diversity than europe!
