As we entered this buzzing and somewhat suffocating city (now understanding why even the dogs wear masks!) we became aware of several things worth noting. Every tuk tuk and taxi driver is overly eager to become your new best friend, it is a much better option to take the local buses. This is true of everywhere in the world! We have seen no tourists on the buses but for 20 cent you can travel round the city with air con ? All those bahts saved on avoiding taxis will add up to you being able to upgrade from smelly 3rd class to 1st class with your own snug bed and shower on the trains ? It's not al bad, we had a very nice meal for a fiver last night and I got my first banana pancake. It's worth noting the prices on the menus before you order as there can be a large discrepancy in price. I couldn't recommend it enough, so tasty and a real marvel watching the woman cook it ? Khao San road is worth a visit, real bus of activity and a good way of meeting fellow travelers. On this note, do engage other travelers in your accom, they can be a wealth of information as they may be on the last leg of their journey when you are just starting off. We are off to visit China town later and a few other spots ?

Cheers
