inside the river boat
you pay once on board - 15 bht wherever you stop. Our first steps bring us to Bangkok after a long journey from Paris via Berlin and Abu Dhabi.
Bangkok is a busy, lovely and charming place with lots of temple and history.
It is a very hot and humid place. Be ready to sweat from your eye-lids!
In terms of transport, there is 2 underground lines (RMT) and 2 skytrain lines (BTS) in addition of the river boats and tuc-tuc and taxis.
Easy to understand and to apprehend, we have been able to try them all.
For food, the best is to eat at the food market / stalls to eat with the locals. Local thai or chinese food: a pure treat! Rice or Noodles with plenty of vegs, fruits, tea and beer!
You will find stalls selling octopus stick, chicken satay, crickets...
Yes, crickets taste like pork scratching: don't be shy - you have to try!!
We visited the obvious: Grand Palace, Wat Pho, Wat Arun, the massive outdoor market Chatuchak Market, Chinatown.
It is just a pleasure to have a wonder on the streets of Bangkok.
4 days are enough to see Bangkok even if you can easily stay
for much longer or much less for some people, I guess.
Our highligts: people are genuine, helpful and they smile ! Food is amazing - Such a pleasure.
Anecdote: We were waiting at a stall to have mini rolled pancakes with sausages and eggs when the previous customer offers to order for us as the merchant wasn't speaking english. What a nice gesture! and then he also offers to pay for us. What a surprise! Thank you again Mister! The pancakes were even nicer!
Bangkok: We will be back!
Now destination Indonesia: Bali here we come...
