Hello from Thailand!!(or the land of smile as they say over here 😊 )
absolutely in love with this place, we arrived on the 10th into bangkok and went straight to our hostel to crash for the night as we were still pretty shattered from jet lag, the next morning though we slept in and then got a taxi to the sky train and then the sky train into Bangkok ( only then did we realise how far away our hostel was from the centre of town!!but anyway we then spent the day exploring the city which is really beautiful and eventually found our way to Koh San Road which i the backpacker hub of Bangkok and so went spent the evening here, brought food of a stall on the street Pad Thai which is noodles with egg and veggies and then went and paid 3 quid for 2 jugs of beer and spent the rest of the evening feeling very merry!!haha we did the same thing the next day looking around town and spending the evening in Koh San Road, then we decided to move to another hostel closer to town which we didnt realise was a danish hostel
and everyone was from denmark but it was lots of fun there, me and claire decided on having an early night jus playing cards in the bar of the hostel only to be approached by an english guy two danish and a south afircan asking us if we wanted to go out fro a drink with them, well it would have been rude to say no haha so we ended up havinf a rather random large night out in Bangkok, which was lots of fun, though the next morning i may have disagreed!!)
The following evening we spent on a night bus taking us down the coast (9 hours of it!!) to Koh Tao one of the islands in the gulf of thailand. the bus i was really impressed with was so much better than the night buses in australia!!we arrived in a place called Chumpon at 5am in the morning which was a rather early wake up call but we got to see the sun rise which was beautiful. we then got the boat across at 7am and were soon on Koh Tao in the mad hunt looking for a place to stay!legend we found a place for
450 Baht per night right by the beach (thats like 5 quid a night between 2!!!) we then spent the next three days here sun bathing and we also did a couple of fun dives which really were fun!!we had a random "night in here too" where we ended up dancing by the sea to cheesy english music haha. this place is really couply though se we found ti quite hard to meet people, though we are not worried everyone we have spoken to is heading to Koh Phangan at the same time which is gona be a messy one we think!!
after three days on the island koh Tao we made the short crossing to Koh Phangan home of the legendary Full Moon Party!we arrvied at about 6pm got to our very cute hostel (of about 15 bungalows!!) and headed straight to the sea to cool down, only the water is the temperature of a bath out here so it didnt really do the job but was refreshing!!we showered and then headed to the resturant where we met three rather fab ladies from england who we then got to know over dinner and then spent the evenin playing
drinking games!!!best way to get to know someone g'day bruce!!haha!we then spent the rest of our time with these girls and became quite good friends by the time we had to leave and go our seperate ways! But anyway back to our time on Koh Phangan!!
We spent the first day sunbathing and then when it got too hot went and read in the shade, only to be hit by a freak kinda wind storm that i actually thought i was gona be blown away in!palm tress and coconuts were flying everywhere and it even managed to collaspe the internet roof where claire and anna where!!luckly anna only got a cut on her hand but it sould have been so much worse!but the storm left as quickly as it came and the sun was soon out again!
we decided for the evening we would go into Had Rin the main beach (where the full moon is held) for dinner and then jus see what the place is like have a few drinks and then come home....plans never seem to happen over here!!i ended up being dragged back to our bungalow at 6:30am!!!it was ther full moon party warm up
which basically means its the same as full moon jus a few less people!once we had started on the buckets (a bottle of vodka and 2 thai red bulls in one bucket for about 3 quid!!!) it all went a bit down hill from there and then out came the body paint and things started to get messy, but i have to say it has to be one of the funniest nights of my life!!!every single peice of the evening was halirous and when we realised what the time was we still didnt want to go home but felt we had to as we had the real full moon later that evening!!!anyway, so we spent the rest of the day in bed gettin prepared for it all again in a few hours!
we ate at our hostel in the evening and didnt actually leave until midnight to get to the party at which point it was HEAVING!a soon as we got there it felt so different from the night before we were a bit lik woah and we wernt sure whether it was a good woah, so anyway we got a bucket each and then went and sat at
the quieter end of the beach playing some drinking games beofre heading to the pumping music, i feel i should explain the set up of the full moon, every month on the full moon thousands of backpackers head to the island and to this beach to party, the beach has about 6 different sounds playing all along it and basically you jus choose what music you want to dance to and then party!! anyway so we started heafing toward the music and straight away realsied that tonight was not going to be like the night before, there were too many people there that you couldnt move and everyone was so drunk that they jus didnt know what there were doing. it started to rain which was the best bit of the evening dancing on the beach in the rain was lots of fun but when you have a bout 6 ladyboys around you trying to pickpocket you, people falling everywhere some drunk man in control of fireworks (and actually hitting people with them) the night kinda gets ruined so we didnt stay as long this time and i would recommend to anyone going dont do te full moon night do
either half or warm up because its so much safer!!!
anyway it was an experience to say the least!!
we then had one more day on Koh Phangan where we spent the day chilling!!the problem with the red bull over here is that it is so strong that you can not sleep after drinking it so we were all really tired!!we went to a resturant and watched sex and the city which was much appreciated!!spent our last evening with the girls playin card games and it was actually really sad to say goodbye to them, but arranged to meetup with them again in london 😊
we then had a joyful time travelling back to Bangkok the following day, 3 hour car ferry ride followed by a 11 hour coach jounrey, but we saved on accomodation for the night so its all grand!!
we got back intop Bangkok at 6am and then had to get taxi to our hostel, only he couldnt find it (i was pointin to it on the map and he still couldnt find it!!grr!!) anyway so we eventually get to the hsotel and have a joyful 6 hours to wait to check in an have
a much needed shower!!so we head to Koh San Road to get some breakfast and to do some shopping 😊 brought some trousers and a bag as my animal one is not holding up too good!we then headed back to the hostel to totally crash and burn, also we have a train to catch at 5:50am tomorrow to take us to the Cambodian border (for 70p 6 hour journey!!)
the story will continue from Cambodia......
ran out of time uploading photos more to come soon x
