All roads lead to Bangkok, the big Thai Capital... It was still dark and early when we arrived, it was cold and the touts were out in force. After no sleep and having to sleep upright and cramped in our "supposed" sleeper bus we were in no mood for the melee outside. Well accustomed to the business peddlers at this stage I was able to ignore their frantic pleas and shouts. We arrived on the infamous Ko San Road after some seasoned bargaining with the tuctuc driver...we still managed to get a little ripped off...but sure you try your best. We knew we were there when we suddenly smelt this unique stench that was the aftermath of a good night on the Ko San Road. It was a headening bouquet of Piss, Puke and Pad Thai. There were some stragglers still hanging out/falling around the street, mainly English and Irish of course. After a long and tiresome journey to Bangkok we were horrified to learn that we couldn't check in until 4pm. Exhausted and forlorn we decided to dish out some extra cash and get a deluxe room...which of course was available immediately! As it turns out fate would bring some

of the friends we had made on our journey together for one last bash. Our Dutch friend we had been traveling with had been robbed of his passport, the English couple we met in Laos had neglected to get their Indian visa before their flight, the Canadian guy I met in Vietnam had to hang around a couple of days and the French guy I had last seen in Cambodia was also there because he was visiting his mother. We spent a couple of days hanging out, drinking the buckets and sampling what the Ko San Road had to offer. I splashed out and bought myself a new Ipod and was even able to give in my broken one for spare parts...I love Thailand!

We didn't do that much site seeing, I did get a really nice boat trip taking in the famous monuments and some of the village life. People were really friendly and it reminded me of being in Vietnam. We managed to get swindled into a bloody scam that I had read about in the Lonely Planet...even though I had read it haha! Ah well you have to live and learn. Or learn that no matter how much you live you never learn. We got to see some really shoddy jewellery and got thrown out of a tuctuc in the middle of the dodgiest neighborhood...then no taxis would pick us up. We were walking around aimlessly, not having a clue where we were going but trying our best to navigate back to civilisation. Eventually after walking a few kilometers we got picked up. We decided to go to one of the biggest shopping centres MBK and get a beauty treatment. I was getting my eyelashes curled and dyed black. They ended up keeping us for ages and we ended up running really late for a bus that we were supposed to catch to Ko Tao.

It was a relief by the end of our time in Bangkok to get the hell out of there, I am definitely not a city slicker and I was looking forward to seeing the picturesque islands that I had heard so much about.
