Last day in Bangkok,---Yesterday we got invited to a grade school by a kind man we met. We thought we were going to "teach english", say a few words and phrases for students who are studying english. Show them how we say it in Kansas. When we got there, we found out we were being recruited to stay and be volunteer english teachers. Sorry, we gotta go home & work...
We had a nice visit & tour of the school & promised to send them some books.

Yesterday we rode the public boats again, our favorite way to view bangkok. On the ferry boat, to cross the Chao Phraya & visit the Wat Arun, one of the famous Bangkok landmarks, a man asks, as so many have on this trip, "Where are you from?"
"USA", I reply
"What State?", "Kansas", "I studied in San Antonio Texas, Long ago, when I was young, in the 70's", my new friend tells me. We discussour travels & the Ferry & Bangkok & going home. "Where are you from?" Patty asks. "Iran", & there is a pause, while we all think about current events, "I don't like my governments policies" he says.
Patty & I smile "We don't like our governments policies either" we reply. & like that a bond is formed. Were just people in the world, just people on a ferry....were all in the same boat.

I'm glad I wanted to find out what happened in Laos. I don't know the whole answer, of course, but I know more than if we had just stayed home & wondered about it.
