gym slogan outside the arena
I think we’ve seen this before in many different applications. Unfortunately this never published last night. For some reason it keeps clearing the locations and won’t publish without it, no matter how many times I enter and save it.
The Elton John sings “Saturday night’s alright for fighting...”. Let’s hope so. Jomhod is fighting to reach the quarter finals of his boxing tournament today. I think I’m going to the fight although exact details are a bit sketchy. Just getting packed to go train this morning. Hopefully I’ll know more when I get to the gym. I’m going to start early so i‘ll have time to come back and change and shower depending on where and when the fight is. Off to the jogging!
10 nice and relaxing laps and 10000 steps by the time I finished running. 10 minutes of jumpRope and and it’s right into the pad work. This morning is a little shorter because of Jomhod’s fight and trying to get back here to go to it. Each of the rounds was a full length today, and it was a good way to end the workout week. Normal combinations of punches and kicks, except when he wants 4 or 6. Today’s twist was 10

All 8 fighters were in the same area getting ready. Jomhod looking pretty relaxed. fast kicks ( bang bang), then it was 5 same same, and then 2. Machine guns punches every round, and if I don’t push him back a few steps, I get the growl for “power!”. I was worn out after that, so it was sit-ups and weights before rushing back to the hotel to shower, change, and BTS back to the gym to meet for the trip to the fight.
On the BTS trip back to the gym, tiredness really started to get to me and I was contemplating just calling it off and heading back to the hotel. It was already 11, so I thought I had missed the meeting at the gym anyway. But then on the walk to the gym I ran into Santee and he said 12:00. I went for a Pepsi across the street, dogging taxis and scooters like I was in Frogger. I’m sitting outside the coffee shop by the Wat, enjoying the nice breeze and watching all the monks with their cell phones, going to get various coffee drinks. It’s tough to think about passing up the chance to see the fight, but nearly 48 hours off was really tempting too.
And the winner is .......
I think there are videos posted on Facebook or online of the fight At about 12:30, Jomhod, Sam, the other guy training and I headed to a car to “The Fighter” fight. I have no idea where it is, but we’re here and hitting the McDonalds before the fight. I decided on just an iced coffee to try and wake up from the drive. The fight is a huge television production. Out of the 16 fighters, only the first and second place get any money. $5000 dollars for first and $2000 for second. It’s interesting to see how everything is staged and how the camera angles make it look like the arena is packed when there really are only people on the two sides. A total of 4 fights and Jomhod is the last. With only 3 rounds it goes fast. The first was wasn’t very good, but the next two were some really hard hitting. Most of the fighters are much younger, late teens early 20’s. Jomhod appeared to take command of his fight from the start and you could tell he intimidated his opponent and was just more relaxed in the ring. He won easily, although his next fight won’t be so easy, which I think they said is next Sunday. I asked w
