Bangkok food truck
These little stands are everywhere you go here. This was at 6:30 this morning so you can just imagine when they need to be there to set the cart up, get the food cooked and to be ready for the people walking by so early in the morning. This week seems to have passed quickly. Already Friday, and planning on two sessions today. I’ll probably only do the morning training tomorrow and see if there is a plan to go watch Jomhod fight tomorrow night. I’m looking forward to the break this weekend to try and rest a little and maybe do some sightseeing and shopping. Trying to do more than just working out, and take advantage of seeing other things, since you never know if or when trips like this will come around again. Weekend planning should be on the lunch break agenda assuming I stay awake.
Still awake, but I did book a bike trip at breakfast while I had some time, and I still got to the gym a little to early. I would really like a nap now, but I’m going to try and power through so I can sleep through the night. I’m still only getting about 5 hours of restless sleep.
Today’s morning training started with jogging for 10 laps. It doesn’t seem like much more, but when it got down to lap 9 and 10 it felt like a lot more. I’ll need the weekend off to recover, for sure.
Monks on the way back to the Wat
They’ve already been down to the Main Street with their begging bowl, and now they have everything for the day are heading back to the Wat. The gym is a right turn here, and up that road is part of the jogging course. I don’t think I’ll run at all! Of course, it wouldn’t be right to not jump rope for at least 10 minutes following 35 minutes of running. It‘s another beautiful sunny day, but the temperatures are fairly moderate, luckily. That doesn’t mean I wasn’t dripping sweat like I was Frosty the Snowman melting. Again, the gym was mine alone. I’m starting to wonder if it’s just me because at home, the gym and classes have been typically empty too.....
Seems like everyone has been dinged up a little, even the trainers are limping from one thing or the other. Once I got my legs back under me, and the gloves on, we started pad work. It was only about 4 and a half rounds today, but the intensity was jacked up really high. Lots of sets of 5 or 10 kicks in a row, and each round had my favorite machine gun punches in it. We worked every combination for at least 1 minute straight before I got a very small break and then back at it again. The mid round ice water baths were so needed today. After pads were done it was weights and sit-ups. Deja Vu.
Flea Market everyday
This was on the way to the gym. Today it looked to be electrical cords as the feature. I must be doing ok. I don’t remember Ajahn actually looking happy when training with him before. Maybe it’s just because he likes the whiskey I brought. He has mentioned “ ahh whiskey number 1“ almost every morning. If I’d have known I was going to get personal training all week I would have brought more!
Afternoon training for the third time this week. And it isn’t any easier than the first one. Running was only 5 laps and 10 minutes of jump rope, but it was the hottest afternoon so far. I did a couple rounds of shadow boxing with hand weights, and then a round or so on the fixed pads, before getting called to the ring. No clinching again this afternoon, so it was only pad work. The pace was again pretty fast, same routine with nearly constant punches, elbows, knees etc. Minimal breaks, with 10 kicks each leg. There were 4 hard rounds this afternoon. Weights were standard, but the sit-ups included the added bonus of Ajahn using a pad and hitting me while I did sit-ups. What a way to finish the day.

Training
Not sure if my comment went through from my phone or not. Keep up the good work but make sure to take time for yourself and don't get burned out. It must be nice to have the gym basically to yourself and have all the attention. I how how tempting it must be to buy some of those electric cords but don't got spending all your hard earned money in one spot..lol.
