Even changes at the gym
Looks like they’ve reoriented the bleachers from the rings to the front. Wonder who will be there tomorrow? Eminent Air fighter lost last night on a TKO. Just to finish off yesterday’s travel bonanza, it wasn’t a 4 hour flight from Seoul to Bangkok, but 6 hours. I forgot about two more time zone changes. It didn’t matter to me, I was falling asleep walking onto the plane. Surprisingly, in the row of 4 seats, only me and the other end seat were occupied, so there was almost as much room as the business class people get. Korean Air still doesn’t have the best food for us westerners, but they did bring lots of “Coke Light” and even a double chocolate Dove bar. Flight was uneventful for me, but some of the reason for these two flights being so crowded is that there is a monster typhoon hitting Japan. The weather today was saying waves up to 8 meters, which is bigger than 24 ft, for those of us using the correct units. There were a couple people back in the economy seats complaining that they were bumped from flights into Tokyo because of the storm and were rerouted, the long way around. Glad my trip didn’t go through Narita this time, I’m not sure it would have been on schedule.
Leaving the airport was easy, and
Gym wall art
I’ve seen this on some of the posts from the gyms Facebook page. I think it’s done by a local artist of some fame. the taxis had no lines. Of course the bargaining starts right away, before you even get in the car, even though they've tried to make the process more structured. First, the driver says, no meter, 500 baht ( or about $16). so you counter with 300, and eventually settle on 400. from the airport to hotel, was about 30 minutes or so on empty highway, except near the hotel, where we hit all new alleyways. We also were almost hit by 2 busses, 1 other taxi, 1 motorcycle and one pedestrian walking right down the middle of the road. When I got to the hotel and gave the driver 500 baht, he acted like he was leaving so I had to remind him the fare was 400, and he “oh, forgot”...
It’s a beautiful morning here today, and I’m hoping that the rainy season won’t be affecting the training much. I did bring both jump ropes, just in case. I still not looking forward to jump rope after running. Today, I’ll be prepping for the start of training tomorrow. First thing will be exchanging money. The dollar isn’t as strong as last time, it’s down about 10%, but it’s

Never really noticed the pool much before, or how many people really use it. still a relative bargain. I bought a Diet Coke and some cookies last night and it didn’t even cost $1.
Updating in the evening, at a new dinner place as the wonderful Firehouse burger joint is gone. But close by is a new Artisan burger place with good burgers and fries. The changes have required some serious adjustments to the routine. The bank exchange on the way to the BTS train is closed, so I’m still looking for one with a good rate. The market just outside the hotel is also history and looks like it will be a parking garage. Tonight i did find what looks like the new and improved grocery store, across from the ex-Fireshouse burger. I’ve loaded up on the large water jug and dog treats for the ring dogs, who were out and about at the gym this morning. A couple pictures from the gym included. They have added more stops on the BTS, and I’ve had to reorient which directions to go again. I’ve also included a couple pictures of the newly remodeled gym at the hotel. It looks much better than last time. New vinyl floors, new equipment, and the ellipticals and

Some new equipment and new floors. Flooring almost as good as my installation at the beach house treadmills look out over the pool. Much better view than the alley and the parking garage.
Took a few more catnaps than planned this afternoon. I figured I’ll be up around 3 in the morning, so I decided to sleep while I could. Dinner now at 8:30 and just finishing the writing for the day. All I need to do tonight is exchange some money, and that will be it. Tomorrow, the plan will be just for a morning training session to see how I do. It doesn't seem quite as hot as last trip, but maybe that feeling will go away when I start running at 7:30 in the morning.
