The hospitality of the people humbles me
They have so little and give so much. I re-lived our search party as I read along. That was crazy! I pride myself as a world traveler to accept their hospitality graciously and genuinely. I know that can be difficult for some as they want to change people. Some travelers are best left at the hotel with the mini bar and blow dryers. Our homestay was amazing. The stars in the sky were frightfully amazing.... a night never to be forgotten. The memories are so fresh in my mind of the kindness of the people of the Pamirs. MJ

The hospitality of the people humbles me
So many emotions and memories arise when I prepare my blogs MJ. And sometimes issues such as the ones you touch upon...very evident on this trip. And because we predominately had homestays rather than hotels we could see what little they had and their hospitality truly humbled me. Thanks for sharing the experience...we made a great team.

It's so true Dave! I have seen that over and over in rural areas of any part of the world I traveled. They open their heart. It's a big departure from city life that we are generally used to and judge people based on that! What a pity! Wonderful experience, Dave!

I know you are also big on hospitality appreciation Tab. You even keep in touch with some of those folk you meet I know. When one experiences those that have little being more generous than those that have a lot...humbles me is my response...but sadly not the response of some others. enjoying a solar eclipse at night! Did you ever get a picture of the Travel Camel riding a Bactrian camel....they are so much easier to ride than a Dromedary.

You have made me laugh Bob. Was the day/night of the solar eclipse that had so much press in the Americas. For you the day may have been more impressive...for us was the night. I have been in some pretty remote areas in my travels but I have never seen the Milky Way pulsating as it was that night. Shane has pics of him on camels...unfortunately I do not.

Those panoramas!!!!
I was so caught up with the the panoramas I forgot to read the blog!! :0... so when I did, I was touched by your thankfulness for all that you experienced in that magical land. I got to thinking...some places should remain as travel destinations & not as tourist destinations - Tajikistan definitely fell in the former. BTW - how lucky were we in the search for the "Camel" we got to see parts of the terrain that are usually by-passed, score++

You say it so well my love. Gotta say the panoramas did come out well. The Pamirs would be spoiled if hotels and tourist buses ever got in there. How lucky are we? When we travel remote the breathtaking beauty we see.

Hi Brendan. Now that I am reliving this trip I am reminded what a great time we had. Up to now I'm like Badger or Ratty in the Wind in the Willows...blissfully floating down the stream having a grand old time. But real life trips may start off like that...but what happens if someone rocks the boat? The adventure continues! Looking forward to sharing some yarns with you personally as well Brendan. Really looking forward to that.
