We are excited to be back on the road and had a great ride along the coastal hwy 11 with awesome scenery despite a good part of the day being rain. Once again there were fun bike only paths along the way too, one leaving Hualien and some other sections later near the Tropic of Cancer marker. We found a great b&b(Sansendai) with ocean views about 6km north of the centre of Chenggong and after cleaning up tucked in to some smoked flying fish jerky, clam soup, fried rice and stir fried greens!

If you want to bike in Taiwan but have a phobia of tunnels you'll need to get over it because there are lots!

We would pass this friendly betel chewing fellow on the downhills, then he'd pass us on the ups, this went on for probably 30-40km until he got a flat :p. He indicated that he had help coming so we carried on...
