At Chinese new year, flew back to hometown and stayed with famly is the key activity for people to celebrate the festival with family together. That is also the only period which i would stay with my parents for a longer time during whole year since i worked in Taipei. Taitung is located at the east of Taiwan where is not so convenient by train or flight also. Only the difficulty of booking train tickets but also the available seats of flight. I went to visit the children story park where reconstructed based on the old japaness styled buildings , now are used for children books open space. After the children store museum, there is a train art village closed to the old train station to exhibit the old style of train culture located the ... read more

We arrived in Taitung late in the evening and the tourist info centre was closed. We negotiated 900 NTD for the hotel by the train station which included breakfast and free bicycle use. Excited not to have to walk so we jumped on our rusty steeds down the road to a cool but touristy restaurant that had tables around a grassy centre which we guessed was used for tribal dancing. The next day we looked into getting out to Green Island or Orchid island which we had heard a lot about. However, we found out we missed the only ferry for the day to Green Island and the ferry to Orchid was not for a few days later in the week. We decided it would be pretty expensive and didn't want to miss a day so ... read more

Two of the world's most proactive field biologists, these two dudes met with former Taiwanese President Lee Tung Hui and in 1987 finalized work in the area to secure its protection. Rabinowitz writes of his meeting with President Lee in "Chasing the Dragon's Tail": "Toward the end of our trip, we met with Taiwan's president, Lee Tung-Hui. I was skeptical before the meeting. Few politicians more than a vague understanding of the true importance of conservation research. But President Lee was different. A handso... read more

Taitung, located in the east of Taiwan facing the pacific ocean and spetacular ocean mountains. The most convenient way to Taitung is by airplante , for 40 mins from Taipei. Or you could take the fast train(not high speed train) in east line to Taitung. it will spend you 4-5 hours from taipei. The view on train still is worthy seeing across ocean line and mountains. Taitung is really hot in summer with cloudless sky and blue ocean. also it is the hometown of aborigies. i live in city where there is a bicycle park closed to the ocean. You could rent the bycicle at the entrance of the park , and go around the park. that is really nice in the early morning to do so with fresh air. ... read more
