Saturday, 22nd October 2016 Changhua is an easy train ride from Taichung Station and things were less complicated when I could use my Easy Card to pay for the journey. Finding the correct boarding point for the Lukang-bounded buses might be a little tricky and it pays to inquire about the information at the helpful tourist office where the staffs would be happy to provide you with a useful walking map. 40 minutes into my bus journey, I had arrived at the disused Lukang Old Station. This is the starting point of the town proper. A comfortable walk through the main thoroughfare, I had reached the Old Streets and the local market where I took a quick meal for lunch. After soaking in the old town's atmosphere and purchasing my wooden train souvenir, I headed back ... read more

Danes je bil torej dan d za sestro moje gostiteljice, ampak zadeve so bile diametralno nasprotne nasim porokam. Spala sem do nekih pol osmih, medtem ko so nekateri vstali ze ob petih.

Let me tell you a little about myself. I am an American severely infected with the travel bug. Luckily, I also am a teacher so that gives me a way to travel and work. I am currently teaching at an public elementary school in a small town outside of Changhua City in Taiwan. I plan to travel as much as possible and I have no idea when I will return to the States! I am also a new bike owner exploring the joys of owning a bike. I am starting slowly, because I am horribly out of shape. Maybe in a little while I'll put up post of long rides along the coast -- but for now I keep them short. But in my town, a short ride is also beautiful. My friends took me on ... read more

So, I just got a brand new camera at a Computer Expo in Taichung, and thought I would take the opportunity to begin my blog. I am an American teaching English and Drama in a small town public elementary school in Taiwan, and loving every minute of it. I am having a great time exploring Taiwan and its wonderful people, and also planning trips to explore the rest of Asia! So while my battery is charging, I'll upload pictures and videos I took with my old, old, old camera and see the difference! Technology is great....... read more

Well my Halloween weekend definatly did NOT go as planned. A bunch of us had planned to meet in Taichung and go out for Halloween, the hotel was reserved and the costumes we purchased. Then on Friday night, Mary got in a scooter accident. She called me from the hospital to tell me what happened and she was going to have to remain in the hospital. Thankfully it was nothing too serious, she had to get 8 stiches and she had to stay in the hospital for 2 days. She is feeling better now, and I really missed her this weekend. So after I found this out we cancelled all our plans in case she wanted us there. But she didnt so I headed to visit Muoy in Changhua for the weekend. All I knew about ... read more

My second stint as an ESL teacher landed me in Taiwan. I was convinced to make a trip to this land of many wonders by a friend of mine that I taught with in South Korea. So, I hopped a flight in August 2003 and headed to Yuanlin to meet up with Jeno. Jeno and I have some crazy stories to share, but I'll save some of those for my small South Korea blog. When I arrived, I was completely awake and so we decided to drop my bags at Jeno's place and go grab a bite to eat. This was my first experience on a scooter and let me tell you...........I never thought I'd get back on! Jeno was a great driver, maybe a little bit too "local" for me already, lol. Jeno helped me ... read more
