Pettah to Galle

We started our journey from the good old Pettah Bus Stand got a Private Slow bus rather than getting on the highway to enjoy all the scenery on the way. it took closer to 3 hours to arrive in Galle. At the main bus stand we had to search a place for accommodation for the long weekend as we did not book earlier. We set up a budget to only go to a maximum of 2000LKR per night and set off to find the best possible place for the price.

After searching on bookings.com we found a decent place within our budget named "nooit gedacht holiday resort" ; Clean, comfortable, homely place with hot water, fourposter bed, in house restaurant and a lovely cook to serve us rice and curry all day till we could walk no more! It was a converted bungalow with a very Sri Lankan vibe to it there were many foreigners enjoying the stay in this place enjoying Rice and curry after good swim at the Unawatuna beach.

It took us about 15 minutes to walk to the Unawatuna Beach from our lodging. There were a few good Kade's (Shops) with friendly chaps ready to serve us. My boyfriend was most welcomed here as he looks foreign and assumed that i was indian so we got the foreign treatment. There was an antique shop on the way to the beach I could not pass this opportunity to maybe find a good piece to decorate one of my current customers' house/hotel. There were a few interesting pieces but nothing too special. So off we went to the beach. The white sand and the blue waters were a lovely sight at first but then we noticed that the beach is on the verge of being polluted by the careless visitors. Already the waves were carrying alot of garbage from the shore. There were many surfing schools, Jet ski rides and other water activity huts all around with everything gone so commercial people have not taken care of the environment.

Nevertheless we had a nice evening by the beach swimming and sunbathing though I did not need any tanning. We had a nice dinner by the beach with all the lights turned up we had a good view even when we faced our back to the beach. It was purely paradise to be spending time in the beach while the sun sets. the perfect de-stress medicine the doctor ordered! With the end of the lovely seafood platter we ended our day to return to our lodging (Day 1)
