I’ve always had the passion to see the wild life but I never really had the opportunity to experience it for real. This time I was lucky enough to see some wild elephants up close and personal. We started to this small safari around 5pm so that we could see some wild animals in action. We knew that we were going to see wild elephants but we never thought that we will be lucky enough to see a lot of them.
We saw the first wild elephant just after we started the safari. It was a HUGE elephant and there is a saying that if there is an elephant alone ( without it's herd ) then you shouldn't mess with it. Well that saying is absolutely correct. As soon as that elephant saw our safari jeep from some distance it started to charge and come towards us. It was really scary but it was an awesome experience too. Then our tour guide was brave enough to ditch that elephant and we all started to move on. On the way we saw some nice peacocks, some rare birds and some leopards.
According to the tour guide it's a rare thing

I just love to see Elephants up close and personal like this to spot leopards in the day time this time of the year but he told us that since the weather is so warm they are coming to the lake to cool their bodies and drink water. So thanx to that we all got to see the Leopards in Sri Lanka. Moving on... we came to a place which looked like a huge football stadium. It was a huge open ground with a small lake in the corner of it. The view was absolutely spectacular. Since it was the time that the sun was setting the sky had a very weird reddish color and combining to the green ground and the beauty of the lake it looked like the garden of eve.
Our tour guide said that we should stay in this open ground for a while bcz in another half an hours time a lot of animals are supposed to come to this place to drink water. And he was right. We didn't have to wait 30 minutes to witness what he said. After about 10-15 minutes a Huge herd of elephants came to drink water and it was one of the most amazing things i've ever seen.
There were so many baby elephants that looked like they were born within 48 hours and they were just so adorable. But no one could see those babies clearly bcz all the other elder elephants were guarding them like they were guarding the Presidents from their countries LOL. Anyhow we were watching them for nearly 2 hours and we never got bored by looking at these wonderful scenery.
So after we were about to move on there was another group of elephants trying to enter this open ground and the group which was already there wasn't too happy about it. So the biggest elephants were charging themselves for a fight between those two groups and we got caught in the middle. We had no place to go and we were scared to death. All the elephants were surrounding us and making scary noises and digging away the dirt from their trunks over and over again for about 10 minutes and then our tour guide called for help from the wild life rangers bcz even he got nervous that the elephants were going to attack us and he was right. One elephant started to chase our safari jeep just like
that single elephant did earlier and all the other elephants were starting to chase us. Everyone was shouting with fear. And then the wild life rangers came to the rescue and chased the elephants away.
Even though that this was a real scary situation at that time, I really think that this was one of my unforgettable journeys I've ever had. Bcz if we just see the elephants and came back to the hotel without any drama then I probably wouldn't remember this day. But since this was a total scary experience I'm now a hundred percent sure that this day will be in my life forever and call me crazy but I wouldn't mind going through a situation like this again. For me this is what life is really about and I just enjoyed it to the max.
Thank you for reading my blog &
