Heading out on a ferry cruise with Claire, Anneke, Marie, Melanie and me...

Our First "Adventure Korea" trip - Ferry riding, Caving and "3 Weird Rocks" on the River

Hello everyone,

So, this blog is about our first "Adventure Korea" tour experience - a day trip to Chungji Lake, Kosu Cave, and then finally, over to have a look at the "3 weird rocks" on the river. "Adventure Korea" is a tour company for foreigners living in Korea. They have a website that Larry and I always checked out, and we thought their tours always looked really fun, but we never gave them a try. That is, until our friend Marie recommended them to us, and told us she would be going on this June 1st day trip....so we decided to book the same trip...and we didn't regret it.

Marie's two friends, Claire and Anneke, also came along on the trip. We all got on the bus early on a Sunday morning, and first headed out to Chungji lake. This lake was very calm and beautiful...and the scenery was very green (not something we're used to seeing in "concrete" Seoul) and nice! Here we had lunch, took photos and enjoyed the view. We also met a lot of new people while we were on the Ferry too!

After the ferry ride ended, about 2 hours later, we got back on the bus and headed to the famous Kosu Cave. Although we had been exploring in caves before (in China and Vietnam), we thought none were quite like this one. This is because of the heights of the cave that we could actually climb to! Usually, in other caves, we just follow the path on the ground....but this one in particular went along the ground, as well as quite high - as we climbed up many iron staircases that were built like a maze throughout the cave. It was a really fun time, and of course, had lots of good "photo opps" as well! 😊

Finally, before the trip ended, we headed to what the tour called "3 Weird Rocks on the River"...which were more accurately - just 3 rocks jutting out of the water. But we still really appreciated the name, and every time our tour guide said it, I think every foreigner was quietly chuckling to him or herself. Here, we also had a chance to hike up to the top of this cliff along the river. Larry was crazy enough to actually walk across this huge natural overhang, with no barriers between the hiker and the drop off to the rocks and river down below. I was smart enough to stand down on the path and take his picture! 😊

After the trip was finished, we got back on the bus and headed home - back to Seoul. We watched a movie on the bus ride back and caught a few zzz's as well. We had had a really fun trip, but were exhausted when we finally got home. So, Larry and I got some duk galbi and called it a night.

We will definitely go on more "Adventure Korea" tours, as they are fun and you can meet other foreigners living in Korea. Actually, just last weekend we went to North Korea through the same company...and we look forward to signing up for one of their rafting trips soon too! We'll keep everyone posted with blogs... 😊

Well, enjoy the pictures. Talk soon!

Love,
Larry & Melanie
