They warned me the Korean bath houses were an intimate and intimidating experience. They were on the right track... We have been wandering the Metropolitan streets of South Korea for a few weeks now- "killing time" until our warm welcome on a Philippines beach. Classes begin in three weeks, and the susurrous Siberian wind has already lost its romance as it comes at you, biting through the trees. But I have no intention of "killing time" for a moment on this trip. This is the time to live all the life I have to give, and I'm give'n er...That means finding a way to feel alive in a place full of cold expressions (I know, the people aren't cold, only their expressions...) and freezing air. I woke up this morning with a pounding head and a ridiculously sore back. Too much time lying down on my cement slab Korean style mattress. Wow, a concrete pillow? Sounds like an adventure! Heated pad on the bed is a nice touch when you come in from the Siberian air. 5 seconds later you think you have come down with Avian Flu- pouring sweat...(not like Pocari Sweat, but close). At least the hagnover is gone. Nothing like bacon and eggs, a hockey game, and a big jug of the hair of the dog to chase those drunken barking bleeding memories away. That and about 20 hours of movie time in our tiny Motel room. Needless to say I am quite impressed we had to motivation to breeze out of Itaewon the way we did. Jen ... read more

Jag åkte tidigt från Claire denna morgon, mitt plan gick strax efter åtta så fick inte sova särskilt mycket. Flygresan till Incheon var ganska kort, bara en och en halv timme. Men Claire hade gett mig en bra förvarning om vad man skulle förvänta sig av China Eastern och mycket riktigt blev planet lite försenat. Men väl framme så mötte jag upp med Kristofer, en annan svensk utbytesstudent från KTH. Han går i samma årskurs som mig och läser datateknik han med, men vi hade faktiskt aldrig pratat med varandra innan vi fick reda på att vi båda skulle till Korea. Jag antar att det är sådant som händer när ens klass är över 200 stundenter ;).
