World Cup 2010 @ Banpo Park
Hello everyone!

This is our summer 2010 blog and it highlights some of the most memorable parts of our summer in Seoul... (minus, of course, our wonderful visits from Danny & Jessica, and Lisa & her friend Zoe)! Anywho, let's get cracking...

Korean Red Devils play in the World Cup: This was an exciting time in Seoul, since almost ALL Koreans are BIG soccer fans (They'll tell you it's "football," but we know the real name of game...) 😊 Anyway, Korea didn't make it too far into the tournament, but it was fun while it lasted. For all of the games there were numerous gathering places where huge numbers of fans could watch the game publicly - sometimes literally in the middle of the streets! In these pictures, we met up with our good friend Jeff along the Han River and watched the game on a big screen there. Beforehand, there was a stage set up and many famous Korean artists performed. And despite the downpour of rain, it was GREAT fun...sadly though, this was the particular game that knocked Korea out of the competition.

Our Weekend Trip to Osaka, Japan: This trip took place in the middle of July and was kind of planned at the last minute. It was a "visa run" trip for Larry and I to get our E-2 work visas. We went to Japan because it was the closest / cheapest option, but we also missed it a bit...as we hadn't been there since we lived in Tokyo in 2006. As you can see, for only being there for a weekend, we did quite a lot. Some of the highlights include the Osaka Castle, shopping at the Zara sale, and eating some great conveyor-belt sushi!

Work!: Throughout the summer, we were both still working at our English academy. Included is a photo from Melanie's "Summer Reading Program" with some elementary students. Aren't they cute?? The rest of the pictures are from Melanie's new TV show that she began at the end of the summer, a children's musical / educational program called "Alice's Wondergarden 2". Melanie is kind of like the featured actress - always being turned into some new character for each shoot! So far, some of the most interesting characters she's been are: Captain Hook, Rudolph, and a PURPLE DONKEY that plays the guitar! 😊 However, the pig costume is for

Melanie put on some weight!
a part called "Pattern Pigs' Pattern Show"... a section of every show that teaches children through repetition in a song or chant. It's been a lot of fun thus far!

Well, hope your summers have been equally eventful!

Lots of love,
Larry & Melanie
