I wanted to to this since I was a little fella and now my dream dreams came true . its was a lovely trip if I reflect what I did and of course to not forget whatI have eaten . It was one of the best experiences I have ever made . I love the culture and the food haha , It actually so good not gonna lie . I mean if I would live there I would never cook at home again . Because the restaurants aren't that expensive and the food is extremely delicious . This time I was alone and I am just amazed by the beauty of the city ... read more

Today, we were heading to Korea. That would be South Korea because the guy in charge in North Korea is a bit of a plonker and doesn't make visitors very welcome. And we'd heard it was just the opposite in South Korea where everyone was going to be friendly, welcoming, happy, family-orientated and enjoy inter-acting with visitors. I was already imagining a flag-waving, singing, dancing reception along the lines of the Olympic event in that country. Bring it on! I managed to keep my lighter through all the departure airport faff this time so things were already looking up. We had a Cathay Pacific 777 plane which was spacious, had wide seats and a British pilot, which I always find reassuring for some reason! It was only a three hour flight but the smiling cabin crew ... read more

All of this blog was written months ago on my last trip but have only just got around to publishing. Since then iv'e returned home for nine months and am now back in Japan. Will update from that trip again soon. Hell's teeth its cold here. Arrived on my flight from Tokyo late afternoon and took the train into town followed by the subway but all of that just connects up via tunnels so i'd never actually been outside. Once outside the subway in the real world I made it 100 yards of the 200 hundred to my hotel before i was delving in the bag for my hat, gloves and scarf, even that didn't make much difference by the time i arrived i was frozen. Checked the weather report and it was a bone numbing ... read more

The North kept issuing threats but the South Koreans are unfazed. Those threats have become so regular that life remains normal here despite the newspaper headlines. Shops and night markets remain open, karaoke bars still blaring, glasses clinking as soju (Korean vodka) bottles are emptied, and restaurants and food stalls a-steaming with their specialty dishes! LOSING ONE'S SOUL IN SEOUL? Totally wasted. Completely zonked out. We'd likely never do this again. That is, taking a midnight flight to arrive 4am in Seoul. Good thing Incheon Airport is so welcoming. We stayed, glued to our seats in the airport's Cafe Pascucci , sipping our fav black liquids to start our day. No luck. Our energy level hit rock bottom for lack of sleep. Took a taxi to take us to Nine Tree Hotel in Myeongdong, a good ... read more

Now it's my 3rd day in South Korea and it's been great so far. Today I'm going to a big shopping district of South korea and it is Myeongdong. They sell designer brand products that include clothes, shoes, accessories, skin care products and cosmetics. I went to meet Sandra at the Seoul Subway Station to take a subway to Myeongdong. We took the Seoul Subway Line 4 to get to Myeongdong Subway Station which took less than 4 minutes. We exited through exit 6 and started the shopping experience of South Korea. There were SO MANY stores. There were 3 large department stores (Shinsegae Department Store, Lotte Department Store and Migliore) and many other individual stores like Missha, laneige, ETude etc. We spent the whole day there. I managed to by different brands of BB cream ... read more

The next day I went to eat spicy rice cake at a store a few blocks away from my hotel. Spicy rice cake is the main thing I wanted to eat in Korea. I’ve seen it in many Korean tv shows and drama and I really wanted to eat it. It was indeed very yummy. It was spicy but nothing overwhelming. It is made with cylinder rice sticks with noodles, eggs some cabbage and spring onion. After eating I wanted to eat it everyday. If you are going to Korea I suggest trying spicy rice cake. I just decided just to walk around looking at streets and stores. Just down the streets from where I ate I found a store called ABC MART. It was a big shoe shop. There was everything from Nike to Vans. ... read more

Landed at Incheon, Korea's international airport at 8:25am. The weather was nice. It wasn't to hot or to cold, it was nice and cool. I was very tired and all I just wanted to do was get to my hotel and rest. I caught the limousine bus that went from the airport to my a stop right infront of the Lotte Hotel. The fare was 15 000 won which is about $13. The currency in Korea is Won and the exchange rate is $1 to 1,175.4808Won. I had to wait for about 10 minutes for the bus to come. It took about 70 minute to reach the hotel. The Lotte Hotel was a nice hotel and the service was pretty good. My room was on the 11th floor with a queen size bed. When I opened the ... read more

Went for my 4th Seoul trip from June 3 to 20. For the first week, was leading 4 friends together with my wife Doris. Traveled around Seoul via subway, with lots of walking in between stations and at the sights. Despite it being my 4th trip, there were still places and things which were new! Had been telling the group that this is a trip where all previous experience have been poured in, so they're getting the best! And we did get the best! Everything planned was completed except for one - going up Namsan (which was completed by the way, as we were staying just around the base of the mountain).... read more

When I first arrived in South Korea, I met this guy named Andrew. Andrew is originally from San Diego, California and has been living in Paju city at English Village for nearly four years. He's become an icon around here as his job is scheduling. He literally coordinates the weekly schedule, every week for all programs, all teachers and all missing or sick personnel. Over the first six months, we mainly played sport with him at the gym but in the last five months he's become a good friend. Only having met his fiancee a few times, we've tried connecting outside of the work-week to enjoy dinners, concerts and sporting events. But with all things in life his commitments to his fiancee Ju Ree and preparations for his wedding day have been getting in the way. ... read more
