As we left Jeonju, it didn't look like it was going to be a scenic hiking trip. Just as we got off the bus in Jinan, the sky cleared and the sun started shining. The taxi cab driver did not want to drop us off at our destination. He stopped in front of a cow farm. As we started up the trailhead, the driver made one more effort at showing concern and left to climb up the hill with the sound of cows moo-ing from across the street. As previous blogs have shown, I am fond of doing cemetary tours, but I was a little surprised at the amount of gravesites going up the first hill. We took a hike at Maison Park, which means Horse's Ear, these mountains always reminds me of mountains in Tailand. We went here on a rainy day and it was still crowded at the main temple site. It was a long walk up to the temple but you are rewarded with a very cool sight, although it is not a very old temple, it is one of the most unique temples I've been to here in Korea. On the way down from our hike we passed all thses rib BBQ shops and we were very hungry, so we went in and had ribs, they were horrible, the cook did not know how to properly cook them, they were directly over the fire and staying there a long time to cook, they were so dry. Jeonju - coming back from Wido Island Of all the things I love, I think waking up on the beach of an exquisite island has got to be one of my favourites. Ooh and then having coffee on the same beach… then going for a swim in the still and perfectly clear ocean water… I think if everyone woke up like that, there would be no war! We packed up the tent and all our other goodies and decided to walk back to the pier to get the ferry back to Gyeokpo. The walk back was amazing! Really, really hot and humid, but amazing.
