Do you really need another reason to come?
Having Sundays included in our days off now has been fantastic for getting to church in the mornings. What's even better, is that the service only starts at 11:30 which means we get a sleep in too! It does also mean that the start to our adventure is a little delayed, so, to make the most of our three days off (and we really need them after 10 days with only one day off in the middle!) we headed off to church with back packs packed, ready for our adventure as soon as church was over 😊

This time we were joined by 2 of our work collegues, Laura and Rachel, and Erica, a friend from church (who decided to come that morning at church). Just as planned, after church, we all piled onto a bus and made our way to the beach 😊 The 4 girls and Darrell. I think that by the end of the bus trip he was more worn out from girl conversation than he is after a full days teaching +-50 ADHD toddlers a class, piled up with sugar, in a language they don't understand! Who knew how much there was to talk about about

hair! Shampoo alone takes 20min... then theres the colour and cuts, and don't get started on how to explain to a hairdresser what you want!

But it was all worth it! Soon, after a quick stop into the convenience store, we were on the ferry to one of our favourite islands off Incheon, Muui-do. As per usual we were the only westeners on the island and seeing as it was a Sunday afternoon, all the locals we on their way home! Yes please! 😊 -not that we don't like the locals, we just like deserted islands too! 😊

One last stop (for an oyster pick, soju, sparklers, coffee...) and we were on our way through the sleepy fishing village to our campsite.

I've been here 6 months now and I still can't believe how far the tide goes out. It's crazy, at low tide the harbour looks like a fishing boat graveyard! All the old boats are completely beached in the mud with ropes connecting them to the pier, and the sea about 200 meters behind them! You have to see it to believe it!

As predicted, the campsite was completely deserted. We had a quick

look at what was available in terms of acomodation, and selected a small hut just off the beach for the girls to spend the night in. Darrell opted to sleep in the tent in a campsite a little further up the beach.

We decided that seeing as we were on the beach in a fishing village, the only respectable thing to eat for supper was a ultra fresh sea food meal... with a side order of galbi (pork served raw that you fry BBQ/braai style at the tabel.) -just incase! 😊 Well, the fish was definately fresh... we saw the cook come out of the kitchen with his big rubber gloves on, pull out a live wriggling fish and um... well...prepare it. 😊 Apparently the preparation we saw (the wriggler being scaled and quartered) was all the preparation needed before chucking the fish into the stew 😊 In the pot of steaming fish stew presented to us were full quarters of fish, fins and innerds intact! hmmmm.... I'll tell you one thing. Being in Korea is definately teaching me to eat with my mouth and not with my eyes! The fish was awesome - even those who turned a shade of green at the sight of a fishie fin poking out of the stew... and then later, 'oh! Is that... the ...ummm... liver?' admitted it. 😊 The Galbi did not disappoint either, all washed down with some good old Soju and Berry wine! 😊

*probably worth mentioning, the normal way of dining in Korea is that one big meal is ordered for the table. When the meal is served, everyone either eats straight out the pot, or puts a small quantity (3 or 4 bites worth) of food into their own small bowl infront of them. There are also many side dishes and one or two dips that you can mix with the main meal in your own bowl. It's really festive with all the people leaning over each other to reach for a particular side dish. And, as many Koreans will claim, no meal is complete without a couple of shots of Soju!

All filled up, we headed off down the beach to play with sparklers. Just when then evening couldn't get any better Darrell defied all odds and built us a fire using only semi dry drift wood and the handles from the sparklers
