Before coming to Korea, we couldn’t find any information on the designated town we were to call home for the next year. Literally, the only two solid bits of information, if you can call them that, in which we knew for sure was that Yeoju is the home for some kind of world ceramic festival and there is a premium outlet shopping mall in town. You could say we were going in pretty blind, but in th... Read Full Entry

This is the College that we lived right by. It is a small college, with a mainly suitcase student body, that all come from Seoul. It was the place Cass and I would cut through to get home from the bus rides home from Seoul, and the exercise grounds we would go for our runs. It sits high up on a hill, and I definitely won't miss that run up it!

Just a great picture of the park in town, near the river. The brown sheltar just above the mans head (not on top of the hill- that's the pavillion that is lit up at night) was the site of some weigookin parties and bbq's.

Christmas at the outlets!

The ultra modern outlets were a spot that Cass and I often went to stroll through to waste a relaxing sunday afternoon. Once it was warm enough, we'd ride our bike sthe 4 km. to it. I hated going to Mountain Hardwear... just hated buying stuff from there too! yeah right

Christmas in Yeoju and the lights down mainstreet were all lit up. Not any snow this year, but danggit, it was cold. I'll take a Montana over that any year!

This is an example of one technique of harvesting the rice. There is also some kind of mini combine contraption, but this 'tent' technique was everywhere, such hard workers

These traditional sailboats were always going up and down the river with tourists, koreans, but not me... Cass got to go with Mrs. Moon. Apparently there was some soju involved and singing while on it?! I can see that happening!

Well done...
Your love of the place and the people shines. I'm an old Peace Corps/Korea volunteer, married to an almost as old Peace Corps/Korea language teacher, and we intend to retire to a farm/orchard with relatives within the next few years. Looks like a real good fit!
