Dear All Greetings! Greetings this time from South Korea, country number 78! I believe I last wrote just about to leave Japan, and was quite sad to do so. Indeed, it has been a bit of a culture shock arriving in South Korea, at once similar but also really very different to its neighbour across the Sea of Japan. I can say it took me a full day to get used to being here. I took the fast ferry from... Read Full Entry

I first encountered Korean cuisine in Singapore. A very tasty, spicy, garliccy, and delicious cuisine, little-known I believe outside Korea.

This is in the largest bath house in Asia, located also inside the Shinsegae Centum City largest department store in the world. This was taken after my spa bath, in the centre's own spa clothes to wear around the rest of the centre

Not Quite Little Known...
Lots of Korean food here in the States. Los Angeles has a huge Koreatown, and Korean grocery stores like H-Mart and Lotte can be found in many metro areas with large ethnic (not just Korean) populations. There were, in fact, three such stores within a one-mile radius of my former home in Silver Spring, Maryland, which is considered one of the most diverse cities in the US. I loved dining at the food courts there! My favorite Korean dish is tofu stew or soon dubu.

Korean Food
Wow, sounds like you like Korean food, I'm sure you'd enjoy it very much here. We don't have much back in England. I find it very tasty, hearty and delicious :)

No love Motel
... It is good to avoid hotels charging hourly rates in every country. I"m glad you are becoming a linguistics expert. You've made a smooth transition.

Love Motels
Indeed! Not into the hourly-rate hotels, I don't think I'd appreciate the vibe there...

I read your korea travel blog.
I was so impressed your comment about my country. You written very frankly. I like your travel comment style. And I want to tell you a thing. The name of the sea between Korea and Japan isn't 'sea of Japan'. The sea has been called 'Donghae' from hundreds years ago. Please remember the true. If I visit London next year, I will leave comments for England. I had been to London in 2011. And hope to continue your happy trip. Thanks, Alex.

Thank you
Thank you for your comment and for reading my blog. I very much enjoyed my travels in your beautiful country, and I am glad you enjoyed your travels in mine. I understand that the naming of the body of water between Korea and Japan is an issue of contention. I have referred to it as the name we give to it in my country. All the best, and happy travels.
