Woke up feeling a little worse for wear so we went and got some food and then sunbathed by the pool. We stayed there most of the day- enjoying the luxury for as long as possible! Then I took my stuff to my new hostel before picking Alex up to go to the airport. We had dinner and then I waited with Alex for a while- her flight was early in the morning so we had some time to kill! Eventually we had to say our goodbyes which was super sad after 8 months of travels together 😞 I got the train back and went to sleep!
The next day I had a nice breakfast and then went to the coach station to get my coach to Kuala Lumpur. It was a lovely coach ('nice' company) and I had my own TV and they bought round snacks- basically like a flight! We stopped twice at immigration - one in Singapore, one in Malaysia- both were quick and easy! I watched Captain Philips and Despicable me 2 and then we had arrived in KL! I got a cab to my hostel- which was tricky to find ( I walked past it 3
times!) but a nice old man took the time to show me where it was which was lovely! I checked in and got chatting to a girl in my room, Cassie and a Chinese Boy, Neal. We all went to look around the night market and local area before coming back and learning a Chinese card game. I call it POM as that's about the only word I understood from it- but I got pretty good and won nearly every game. A Japanese guy from our room also joined in. It was a fun, chilled evening.
The next morning I got up fairly early and went to the Vietnamese embassy to sort out my visa for there. (Otherwise I have to post my passport to Vietnam for 2 weeks which I didn't want to do!) After I went to do some sightseeing and went to the Petronas towers. They were pretty impressive! I went int eh mall attached to them and had lunch before finding my way to the KL tower. On my way I got stopped by several (at least 5!) people to have photos with me- it's very strange but it's because I'm western and have blue eyes
apparently! Then I went back to the hostel- I was exhausted from walking around in the heat. The humidity is very high! I went round the markets a bit after and bought a few things before face timing home!
The next day I had a bit of a lazy start. I went to the butterfly park - which was quite far but still walkable. I really liked it and spent ages looking at them all. I had colourful trousers on and they just of thought they were flowers as they kept landing all over me! From there I went to the museum of Islam. It was huge! It had some interesting sections but I was again very tired by the end. I got back and had a nap. I think the heat is getting to me haha then I got some dinner from the street market and chilled with people in my room.
Got up early to go to the Batu Caves with Neal. We got the train which was easy enough and super cheap- less than a pound for a 2 hour journey! We went round the first cave and there were lots of statues telling a story. Then
we went in a few temples and had a look around before going to the main cave with the famous golden statue. We walked up what felt like a million steps to the top where there was another temple- I got a blessing for good health and wealth! Then I went back to town and went for tea and cake before going to visit 3 local temples. Two buddist temples and one Muslim. All very pretty architecture and designs! I stopped by a reggae bar on the way back for food and watched the football that was on! From there I got the train Into town and went to see the Petronas towers at night- they were amazing! I sat and watched them for a bit but then got asked for a million
Photos again so left haha I went home and packed for my trip tomorrow!
Today was a dull day! I went to the embassy to get my passport and visa - it took ages as they aren't very efficient! Then I went back to the hostel, got my stuff and went to the coach station. I got the 5 hour bus to Penang and just read the
whole time- it wasn't as luxurious as my last coach! When I got off I had missed the last boat so got a cab over to Georgetown Island. My hostel was ok, Hutton mansion, but a guy in my room was up 'gaming' until about 2am which was a tad annoying!
Woke up and chatted to a nice kiwi girl, Kirsty who told me where to go while in Penang. I got the bus to Penang hill and sat next to a cute old
Lady on he bus who talked to me for about and hour about travel and her family! When she got off a Canadian girl called Amy sat down and we ended up chatting and going to Penang hill together. We got the train thing up to the top and had a walk round. The view was good but it was a little cloudy! We went round a temple and up and down a few paths off of it to have a look around. We again got stopped by a lot of people for photos! Then we decided to go to the cat cafe in town as we were both intrigued! It was hilarious! EVERYTHING had cats
on and there is a room at the side with 9 cats in (poor cats!). You can go in and play with them but they were all sleeping so we just looked. After that Amy left and I went and did the street art walk around town looking at the local graffiti it which was fun. Then it started to rain so I went in the nearer cafe- which was bike themed! I had a nice spag Bol before going back (once the rain had stopped!) I just chilled with Kirsty a bit before getting an early night after a busy day!
