bikes everywhere...
going to Ikea Tampines We’re now on our 3
rd day in Singapore and we still have lots of places to go to. The weather that day was not that good. It was sunny in the morning but in the afternoon it was raining heavily up until it was evening. We don’t had any umbrella, I was just glad that I brought my shawl to drape on Hannah. Below are the places we went on that day, starting with:
IKEA – this was located on Tampines and it was still early when we arrived(opening was 10AM) so we passed time at Giant Mall. By 10AM, the store already opened and we immediately went inside. It was so huge! I was very impressed with the decors and furnitures, I especially liked the kitchen decorations, I love the bedroom as well as the kids’ bedroom! We also let Hannah and Adriel play at Smaland where they can play, climb, jump and bounce with children their age. It was free, and they managed to stay there for only 30 minutes because there’s really not much toys inside.
Thian Hock Keng Temple – It is one of the oldest and most important Hokkien temple in Singapore. I specifically
at Giant Mall
coffee, purple jelly and egg tart included temples on our itinerary coz there’s not much temples here and I want to see what it’s like to see one so this is the first temple that we visited. I think it was under renovation when we went there. There are parts of the temple that are closed so there’s really not much to do.
Sri Mariamman Temple – This is Singapore's oldest Hindu temple. There was a shoe rack beside the temple which specifically says to leave your shoes outside and enter barefoot inside. I have second thoughts on leaving our shoes outside because it was raining that time and I don’t wanna soak our feet on a wet floor. But I really want to go inside so we just left our shoes entered the temple barefoot. The shrines were mesmerizing! My daughter though got scared looking at the gigantic figures above us. I hoped to stay a little longer but my companions were hungry already and we have yet to visit the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple.
Buddha Tooth Relic Temple - The Buddha Tooth Relic Temple & Museum is a living cultural monument in the heart of Chinatown featuring exhibitions relating to various facets
of religious arts and culture of Singapore. It also houses what Buddhist leaders regard as the Sacred Buddha Tooth Relic in a stupa composed of 320kg of gold donated by devotees. This was definitely the most beautiful temple that we saw out of the 3! By this time however, the rain hasn’t stopped so we were forced to spend some time there, not that we complain though. There were beautiful and colorful flowers hanging over the temple(but I think it’s made of plastic), there were donation boxes outside, some are food and some are cash. Hannah lighted an incense stick though we’re not sure what to do with that, lol! Inside the temple, there was a service going on for the Buddhists. They worshipping, chanting something we can’t comprehend but one thing’s for sure, I find it very fascinating to watch them. But again, as much as I want to stay longer we just cant coz we have to eat our lunch and the kids are really hungry.
Maxwell Food Center – This is were we ate. I ordered some noodles with beef(I forgot what it’s called), it was delicious! I also ordered fresh pineapple juice with lots of
ice. We finished it very quickly then went to MRT to get to City Hall Station.
Merlion Park – We had to pass by the Boat Quay to get to Merlion Park. It was so far! But we did enjoy our walk coz we get to have some picture taking along the way. This park is one of the major tourist attractions in Singapore and when we got there, there were way too many tourists and locals alike having their pictures taken at the Merlion. It was also like having your picture taken all in one because you get to see the Marina Bay Sands, the Esplanade and Singapore Flyer at the Merlion Park. We ate our dinner at Makansutra Gluttons Bay at the Esplanade. There were lots of Pinoys there! Nice ambience and you get to see the lights show at Marina Bay Sands.
Fountain Of Wealth - This was our last stop. It was located at Suntec City and according to Guiness Book of world Records, it is the largest fountain in the world! The laser show was spectacular! It has an interval of 30 minutes apart starting at 8PM and the last one at 9PM.
It is claimed that visitors to Suntec City, who walk around the central base of the Fountain three times and touching the water at all times, would gain some good luck of their own. So we did that after the laser show together with some tourists. After the show, we ate some ice cream at Swensen’s… omg it’s so delicous! Anyways, after a very tiring day we retreated to our hotel and rest for the night.
