Downtown Singapore in the rain
March 2nd, no it is March 3rd - Somehow we went to bed on March 1st and woke up on Monday March 3rd in Singapore. We opened the curtains of our 15th floor room at the Marriott Tang Centre to a somewhat Vancouver like day in Singapore (cloudy with a likely chance of rain). At 8:30am we headed off to find breakfast and we found a great outdoor cafe next to Marks & Spencers accross the road from our hotel. My brother had told me how clean Singapore was, but Julie & I were totally amazed at how absolutly everything was spotless. There are people cleaning and polishing just about everything from the windows to the subway escalators. We walked along Orchard street for a while and tried out hand at racing a Williams Formula One simulator to win tickets to the first ever nighttime Grand Prix this September (neither of us won, I flipped my car twice). Later in the afternoon I bought a new digital camera after much haggling in the Funan Digital Electronics market. Julie then wanted to go for a Singapore Sling at the famous Raffles hotel and we luckly arrived there just as a major downpour

hit the city. The hotel was a fantastic example of turn of the century British colonial architecture, while the drinks were a perfect example of something we would never order again (plus it was $15). The day ended with a post-rain walk along the harbour front to the financial district and a subway ride back to our hotel. Our flight to Mumbai (Bombay) was at 8:30pm. After 5 hours (yes, another meal, but only 2 snacks and one ice cream) we arrived in Mumbai at 12 midnight local time.
