We have tickets today for Singapore Zoo and its River Safari. We have bought bulk tickets through the internet before we left Tenerife which covered these plus the Jurong Bird Park. Also includes the tram within the Zoo and the River Cruise and Amazon River Quest within the River Safari. Think we got 10% discount by buying in advance.
We had heard nightmares about the journey up to the zoo, so were pleasantly surprised when all went according to plan. About an hour and a half after leaving the hotel we were walking into the River Safari. It was a short ride on the metro and a 40 minute local bus ride.
The route through the various animals is well laid out so that you do not miss anything. At the top of the walk is the River Cruise which takes you out over fresh water lake to see some of the animals from the zoo from another angle.
Next door to the River Cruise is the entrance to the Amazon River Quest. This is a gentle water ride through the river safari animals. This was a bit of fun, and we did not get too wet. A
great way to change the way of seeing the animals.
We completed the track around the river safari and then had a quick bite to eat at one of the Chinese food stalls outside. Very reasonably priced considering where we are.
Onto the Zoo next and again the animals are placed so that you do not miss anything. As we have a ticket for the tram, we thought it would be ideal to take the tram around the park first and then walk around the areas we wanted to see more afterwards.
The Zoo has a principle of trying not to cage the animals, whilst also maintaining safety for its visitors. This makes it a very pleasant park to walk around, as you feel like you are in with the animals.
After the tram ride, we decided to walk the whole circuit of the zoo so that we could see all of the animals, including the ones that were not visible from the pathway.
Feeling that we had seen the entire zoo, we made our way back to the hotel on the bus and metro and were back within about 90 minutes.
Tonight, we

Like a white water ride, but without getting wet are heading out to an Indian restaurant within Little India that gets good reviews. We have an entertainer voucher for this. This will be the first one that we have tried to use whilst in Singapore.
Muthus´Curry was packed with a mix of both locals and tourists when we got there, so we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. When we asked about the Entertainer voucher we were told we could not use it as it was Harj national holidays today and tomorrow. Never the less, the food was excellent and we can definitely see why they get the good reviews. This was another restaurant that serves food on banana leaves rather than plates. We are sort of getting used to this now.
Looks like Little India is gearing up for some celebrations tomorrow for Hari Raya Haji. There are a lot of barriers and marquees being erected. Could get a bit noisy we think.
