11/11/08 = Zoo and Night Safari
Up early and straight out for zoo. Got tube, then bought zoo tickets and got bus direct there. Awesome zoo! First, got pictures with parrots, then went to see Hibiscus monkeys (one of stangest creatures ever seen, with a large human nose) and then Short Clawed Asian otters = my favourite animals of whole day. So, so, so cute and all grouped together in front of people making noises that made them sound like they were christmas carrollers (albeit not very good ones). Then managed to catch zoo keepers feeding gibbons and then Maned wolves. They were really strange wolves and looked alot more like foxes.
Went to see 'Splash Show' next = absolutely brilliant. Had cute penguins, ace manatees and star of show was a Sealion. He did loads of stuff and after show we lined up and got a kiss from him - brilliant! Didn't buy photo though because cost way too much. Saw orangutans next - so clever. Started to rain, so they sheltered under trunk of tree and used branches to block rain. Also saw an elephant show, but didn't really enjoy it - elephants didn't look very happy
Crazy Hibiscus monkeys
The photo doesn't even do it justice...poor guy. and men using elephant hooks, so not keen. Saw long list of animals after that, including: pygmy hippos (really cool), white tigers, every species of monkey imaginable, snakes, zebras, lions, tigers, leapords, giraffes, deer, tapir, bears and really luckily landed on polar bear feeding time = definatley my secind favourite animal. Looked brilliant in water and absolutely huge. Watched him hunt down and catch a live fish - brilliant.
Re-visited otters on way out, then headed for Night Safari across road. Only 6pm and Safari not open until 7:30, so sat down and got the most rubbish food ever (but was still expensive). Tribal dance started at 7 then and that was brilliant. 4 dirfferent tribes from Borneo doing different routines, with lots of fire breathing, fire dancing, a cane show and then a fight scene. Got someone up from audience too - poor guy had to put fire on chest and ended up burning all of his chest hair - he took it well though. When finished, went and watched Creatures of the Night show, which turned out to be bit disappointing. Couldn't take any photos because cameras not allowed, couldn't see too well and lots of animals
Best animals ever
Cutest, cutest, cutest creatures...definately kissable x didn't do what supposed to do. Funny part in show when stopped and told everyone that an animal was missing. Came into audience and pulled a 10ft python out from under some peoples chairs - everyone on that side of hall started screaming. Python had just been lying there the whole time. So glad we didn't sit there - not exactly a fan of the snakes...especially ones that are double the size of me!
Went on Safari tram then which was really cool. Bit like Jurassic park. Took 45mins and went all round park showing us all nocturnal animals in habitats. Host lady ruined it a bit though with her ridiculous Mystic Meg voice. Tried to make everything sound mysterious and exciting, but was completely annoying and inappropriate at times - especially when talking about animals being slaughtered for their fur! When finished, got off and did a bit of the walk round the park. Really cool seeing animals at night. Some good hyenas and got really close to a tiger who was eating it's dinner - just glass seperating us (although I'm glad that it was).
Really tired at end of it all - nearly a 12hr
day. Got bus and tram back then crashed out in bed. Very minimal chatting tonight and went to bed before snorer - yeh!

12/11/08 = Leaving for Australia
Got up, packed all things, then headed for China Town. Lot bigger than Little India and lots of little shops. Managed to finally buy a ring (after 4 countries and 6 weeks of searching!), but only a little material one. Went to internet and booked room for Brisbane (another sharer - hopefully no snorers though!). Getting really excited for Australia, but every time we go to airport, feels like we coming home, so wierd.
Went back to hostel. Got clothes properly washed in an actual washing machine - treated ourselves. Hopefully will put some of clothes back into normal shape and can stop walking round holding skirts up at same time! Went to airport then. Got there early because heard how amazing airport was and had even more time because flight was 're-scheduled'. Massive airport. Did big trek to find FREE cinema and passed free internet, free gym and
free swimming pool along the way - wish had clothes to go in. Sat down for free film and ended up being the original Rambo film - ha! Sat and watched it anyway, then went on x-box and gamecube for a while after. Got lost trying to find our way back to terminal, but didn't have to wait long when did finally find gate.
Plane awesome! Took wrong turn and walked through first class again (seems to be our thing) - nearly ended up in captains cockpit before airhostess stopped us. The lower class area was good too though. Had a menu to choose food, good TV with really good choice, schedule of drinks, food and snacks times, as many free drinks as would like and best of all, some travel socks and an eye mask! Brilliant food - got really stodged(?) on it. Arrived in Brisbane at 9:15 - excited!
