When you live in Asia Singapore is a good option for a weekend break, flights are cheap from most Asian countries to Singapore. Ive been tons of times and have some good memories but have to say its not my favorite place for a weekend away.

Places that I've visited in Singapore and worth checking out are:-

- Chinatown
- Clark Quay
- Boat Quay
- Geylang...great chill crab but avoid the red light district!
- Holland Village
- Little India..banana leaf curry a must try :-)
- Sentosa Island...some cool beach bars
- River Valley Road...great prata n curry after a night out!
- Singapore Zoo / Night Safari
- Palau Ubin, hire some bicycles, eat some seafood

Singapore is a relatively quiet place compared to Hong Kong. I do not know much about Singapore's history but I know the country seems to have more rules than most countries in terms of cleanliness, manners, i.e. no chewing gum etc etc. This place is definitely more for the family oriented and suitable for couples who are ready to settle down. Night life is great in some parts, but you often find yourself hopping from one area to the other as some of the nightlife hotspots are quite spread out.

If you're in Singapore for the first time and have some time to spare then be sure to head to some of the nearby islands in Malaysia or indonesia which can be reached easily by a combination of bus & ferry. Islands: Rawa, Tioman, Bintan, Batam, Sibu, Nikkoi and Pangkil Islands.
