Hi everyone thanks once again for keeping us up to date with things and thanks Keri for all the info on Bangkok. We have five great days in Singapore, doing things as diverse as visiting Changi museum, to water travel on the Singapore river. Its a most beautiful city although it never sleeps. Raffles and Singapore slings were a blast. Yesterday we travelled by rail, 1st class costing 20 pound to KL. The trip took approx 7 hrs but we enjoyed every minute of it. The Malays are changing from rubber production to palm oil production and India are buying all they can get. KL is manic, high humidity, sweating all the time, have just come back from a trip to the Pretonis Twin towers. Very impressive building. We are now trying to get transport to ... read more

A city tour later, chat online, dinner in a Hawker centre, and shop in Bugis Village, we wind up home tired with very sore feet. We covered so many places on the City tour - drive past Suntec City (massive shopping centre) and Raffles Hotel, brief shop in a Little India arcade, picture taking near the Merlion statue, shopping in Chinatown, visit to a jewellery factory and stroll through the Singapore Botanic Gardens. We bought a few souvenirs from both Little India and Chinatown and I also finally got an ice-cream sandwhich from the ice-cream stand at the harbour. We actually thought they were volunteering to take OUR photo but no they wanted a solo ... read more

Firstly a big HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to our Moms from Singapore! Hope you had a good morning and are out doing something fun or relaxing at home. Ahhhh a good night's sleep makes alll the difference! Slept in till 9am this morning! We got our Internet connection which is why I'm writing this right now! I'm sitting on the floor coz that's the best signal for the wireless! We had brekkie at TCC - The Coffee Connection. It's across the road. Kind of a funky looking coffee shop. Seems to be frequented by tourists only. We had American breakfast - geez how non-Singaporean haha! Maybe tonight we will get something authentic. Everything looks closed...maybe coz it's Sunday. Or maybe they will open up later? Hope so! We have booked a city tour starting at 2pm today. ... read more

Friday 21st - Tuesday 24th Last day at Dolphin Bay. Not seen any dolphins but think perhaps it’s too hot, never below 35 degrees. Our new friend, a local dude, has assured Hugh that they’re about in the evening. The weekend brought a new style of resident. Last week was predominantly European, now, large Thai families. The well to do of Bangkok me thinks. We hear them around 7 - 7.30 am in the pool but by 10am the place is deserted (avoiding the intense sun from 10 till 4). Light skin, I'm told, being considered a reflection of health, wealth and beauty. We, naturally, haven’t grasped this and boldly march about with lots of pink bits commenting on how hot it is! Katie remains untouched as we slip, slap, slop on a frequent basis. She ... read more
