Hey folks. We finally made it and WOW its HOT!!! And when I say hot I mean HOT (40 degrees)!!!
So the epic monster journey went without any hiccups.
smooth as Bangkok airport was nice as and HUGE!
It had all these shops and they were calling me but I refrained remembering I have many shopping days to come!I managed to go an entire flight (11 hours) without watching any movies!
Ok let me enlighten everyone at this point...Jit did not sleep or watch films because he was too busy downing 8 dirty (for the folks at home - LARGE 7030 - Dad you would have been proud!) whiskeys and cokes during our 11 hour epic journey!!! I had one slurring on my left and the other calling for a flight attendant I mean check me out! Met a great fella on the plane (Martin) who proved to be extremely entertaining and a great drinking buddy!
Right, Singapore, well first and foremost, it's CLEAN! I mean you can eat your food off the street and it would probably be cleaner than your own plate.
you can do that i am quite happy with a plate!Impressive stuff. Everything is prestine
and well kept (even the women...dammmm!)
I won't even comment because my time will come. We could learn a thing or two or fifty! Another thing is that being in Asia, we thought this place might be fairly cheap, well guess what, we were wrong.
Jit's food budget went through the roof! This place puts London to shame. Ok maybe not that bad, but it is expensive. Food costs around the same, with an average meal coming in at around 40 pounds (sorry no pound sign on this keyboard). But cider, well a pint of strongbow comes in at a heavyweight 10 pounds a pint. Ouch! (thanks Equity for the gift it REALLY has helped!)
We have had a packed out few days. They went as follows;
Day 1: Singapore Zoo and Night Safari. What a great day out. But we must have walked at least 20 miles. Sore feet.
a complete understatementWe both fed elephants which was pretty special
words cannot describe it!, and I managed to get called up on one of those stage shows, and had a python wrapped around my head (pics to follow as we cant upload the pics at the mo)
Sorry for the lack of decent shots, i was called up to get a closer shot but was petrified of being dragged on stage with that crazy thing - and the snake!. Its a great zoo, probably one of the best we have been too.
Day 2: Clarke and Boat Quay. This was fantastic. We did it in the day time and took in the shere scale of things, skyscapers gallore. Then took an afternoon nap as they do in these parts (ok so they dont, but we dooo!)
we needed it after 2 days of solid walking and went back at night. WOW. A sight for sore eyes. Then top it off, we went on the Singapore flyer! The worlds largest ferris wheel. Impressive stuff but very similar to the London eye although the view was unparalled.
Day 3: Sentosa Island. Well I wont say too much on this place apart from Tourist Trap!! The rip off of all rip offs. But gladly when we got there we experienced the big mumma of thunder storms. I mean rain like you have never seen. Madness. We would drown back in London.
London would have a rain day forget snow day
Day 4: Done Orchard Road. Feels quite bad because its shoppers paradise and Louis Vuitton was calling my name!!! Off to the Raffles for a cheaky Singapore Sling in a bit.
Been waiting for these for a 10 months, the time has come Oh yeehhhh!
We've ended up spending an extra day here as the Thai embassy stole our passports and then closed for the weekend.
So the folks do not panic, we went to get our Thai visas done on Friday thinking that it might be a one day thing, but it is not and because of the weekend we have to go back So have to wait until tomorrow (Monday) to get them back and then we are off to Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur). One country down, 14 to go. Get in!!!
Melba we are on the way to the homeland! Love to you all, always thinking of you All lies I tell you, ALL LIES!!!
P.S. I also want to say on behalf on both Jit and I a big THANK YOU for everyone's gifts and generousity before we left. It seriously is priceless to us and will be well remembered!
