We're at Changi Airport in Singapore and waiting to board our plane. This airport is amazing! Indoor gardens, swimming pool, FREE internet, 24/7 shopping and food, a relaxation lounge and even free movies! I can't wait to be in transit here when I come back from Europe! Singapore was great!!! It felt longer than 3 nights...felt like 1 week! We did so much here! I went shopping last night and hence my suitcase is a kilo or so heavier. Prices in shops are comparable to Sydney while markets are cheap. Not super cheap like Manila but still cheap to buy a bit! I ended up getting about 5 t-shirts and a bag! Will need to wear a lot coming home or carry it on in my pockets! We went to Raffles Hotel last night and got ... read more

After an early start this morning, a super easy check-in at 8.45am, we had a quick brekkie at Sydney airport. One thing I found out…Singapore Airlines allows 25kgs baggage not 20kgs! YAY an extra 5kgs coming home!!! With final goodbyes, Todd and I passed through customs about 10.30am. We had some trouble finding the Tourist Refund Scheme office. When we finally found it there were about 5 people in line! Final boarding we hear over the PA! For our flight! After processing my GST refund for my mobile phone, MAC make-up and jeans we ran to gate 58. We were the second last bunch on! They changed the departure to 11am instead of 11.30am! We didn’t even browse through duty free! Anyways the flight was GREAT! WOW! Singapore Airlines are fantastic! Food was really yummy and ... read more

We have made it to Singapore. Fight went pretty quickly...managed to watch 3 movies...Match Point, Memoirs of a Geisha and an Alfred Hiscock thriller. They fed us lots of ok food too. But it was still terribly boring. The landing was the roughest I've felt too. An almighty thump! I'm not much looking forward to the next 13 hours....you really do end up feeling like you are stuffed into a can of baked beans with chemical air and food as the sauce... Ed says hello butis keen to get his latte and watch the passing parade. I hopesomeoneout there may enjoy reading my trivia...please add a comment. Hope all's well with youall... read more

Hello from Singapore! Arrived late but still had time to spend a couple of hours at the Long Bar at Raffles and shut the place down with my (original) Singapore Sling. Got up early and headed to get my much anticipated cup of coffee and kaya toast. So yum. Photo shows the 4 slices...delish! Wandered down along the boat quay area to the merlion and then down to Chinatown. This is such a great city/country! Gotta come back!! Taking the subway back to the airport was a breeze. Lounge is good. Lots of snacks, bevs, large with nice atmosphere, tvs, computers (usb equip as you've probably already noticed!). Only complaint...though there are lots of windows it's too hard to plane spot with the walkway in between so I guess I won't be catching a glimpse of ... read more

Its 1am Singapore time and I am wandering around the airport in a daze. As far as airports go this aint a bad one, it has become like a second home for me as I have travelled through here 4 or 5 times now. Singapore is the half way mark of the flight from Australia but due to waiting time and time zone changes it will be 21 hours between boarding the Qantas domestic flight to Melbourne from Adelaide Airport to disembarking in Dubai. I asked the girl at the check in counter to put me with people I could talk to instead I got a family of Slovenes who couldnt speak english so spent the whole trip by myself, to top that off the movies they were showing I had already seen. Emirite airlines has ... read more

Quick run down on what we did before the plane trip: We left for Sydney at around 9am, got to the hotel, checked in then went and had some lunch nearby. Met up with Ash and her parents in the arvo before we went for dinner at the rowing club down the road. After checking in at the airport, we wondered around for a while then it was time to say our goodbyes and go board our plane. As we walked through to the boarding gates area, we got a lecture from guy saying that we were meant to have been in there an hour earlier but we had gone off what our ticket said so i think he was just crazy and didn't know what he was talking about! We boarded the plane pretty much ... read more

Hey - so im killing time in the airport. It is 10.30pm and I leave at 2.45am. So im just smoozing around. I changed all my money back to rands to prevent myself in becoming even more in debt. So said bye to Claire and cried my way over half of Australia while listening to Jack Johnson - I know im a sap but dude Hendo is the greatest. Met these two aussie girls who I chatted with and had a good old snooze in my corner of the airplane. I will be seeing mom and dad in jober at 7 in the morning and spending the day with them and Lee at of all things - a theme park. Should be good as I should be a walking zombie. I just had the hugest piece ... read more
