6 o’clock, Saturday morning - I was haggling with my phone’s alarm for another hour of slumber. I could still feel the booze in my veins that I obtained from our usual Friday night-out. But the thought of where we will be spending the day perked up all the adrenalin in my body. Yes! My itchy-feet will be pleased today. This day trip was somewhat a short notice, which was actually perfect, because we knew that it would materialize, instead of the long planning which usually do not push through as always. When our Finance Manager forwarded an email last week regarding Grande Island’s Special Promo, we immediately convened to avail it. Besides, the Promo was a cheap deal - Php 500.00 inclusive of entrance fee, round-trip boat transfers, and a plated lunch. We didn’t even ... read more

June 17, 2005, Friday at 10:00 AM, Val, Toby (Val's brother), Ninjo (Val's cousin) & I left Filinvest 1, Q.C, our home & headed to Subic, Olongapo via North Luzon Expressway. Everything was going along fine, cruising with our music but suddenly when we reached the bridge in NLEX(North Luzon Express way) the steering wheel started to shake. At first I thought it was just the road, but after the long stretch of the bridge it still continued to shake. We went down from the CRV van & found our wheel unevenly bloated. My Gosh! Good thing it did not explode! We changed the front left tire. We were back on track by 10:45AM, we just had a 20 minute delay. We arrived at Subic, All Hands Resort at around 12:30 PM. Check-in is actually at ... read more

It is our annual family outing. Usually, we just spend it on one of the resorts in Pampanga, but this year, we've decided to have a feel of the beach. We were all so excited. As early as 4am, we were all awake, readying for our fun day, supposedly. Oh well, almost! The lucky stars were unfortunately not on our side that day, since we took a very hard time finding for a van to rent. Tsk tsk. At last, at 830am, we finally scouted for a van. Whew, the kids were almost disappointed, spoiled and wasted, since they were really waiting for this day. So, off we went to Subic Bay, which is just an hour away from our home. There are a lot of beach resorts inside the SBMA. We decided to go on ... read more

I’ve been working for almost three years here inside the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, but honestly, I have never explored the place since. Guess, I’m missing a lot from its wide array of offerings - beaches, duty free shops, hotels, bars, jungles, golf clubs, and many others. It's my birthday, and to break the monotony of my life, read as work, work, work, I spent it with adventure on two of SBMA’s latest additions of tourist attractions - Zoobic Safari and Ocean Adventure. Both places are located in the Naval Mag area which is approximately 15-20km from SBMA main gate. Transportation to this area is not accessible to public transport, so we hired a van to get us there. We made a fair deal on one of the transport services located in the Park-and-Shop. The driver ... read more
