During June 2009 my family headed to Maasin, Southern Leyte to attend my cousin's wedding. We stayed in a cheap but clean pension house located in Downtown Maasin. Its called Casa Ampil they have just renovated the establishment and I paid 450 for the 2 bedroom but they dont have hot shower. Then we went to have a dinner at Kinamot sa Abgao restaurant, a rustic and filipino inspired restaurant located at teh seaside. Good food and reasonably price. I like the dim-lit dining area and its ventilated by the sea breeze as it is located at the seaside. Perfect for romantic dinner and for the whole family. We're just about ready to call it a day and fall asleep when it's time to check-in. It's not ... read more

We arrived safely at Sogod Bay Scuba Resort after a ferry and hour long ride in a minivan. Ron, one of the owners greeted us and had a chat. Sogod bay is a famous area for diving with whale sharks but we were out of season so we didn't get a chance to do this- next time gadget, next time. Our stay at Sogod Bay was a pleasant one, diving twice a day and relaxing the rest of the time or exploring the surrounding towns. Our cottage was a fairly recently built room with ensuite bathroom with hot water AND air conditioning. A real treat in our price range. We ended up staying 7 nights because we enjoyed the place so much. The best dive we did was a night dive under the pier at ... read more
