Happy Thanksgiving!

We woke early and read in bed for a while. Then we took the laptop for coffee, and, eventually, brekkies.

After brekkies, we took the double kayak out to explore the two nearby coves. This is such a beautiful island – very jagged rocks, with trees flowing like rivers, and a few pristine beaches at the base of the rocks. The islands are all undercut from the tides … some have two layers of under-cutting, as if the seas used to be higher. The water is clear, green, and perfectly warm, so the small splashes from the waves washing over the bow were comfortable, not unpleasant. The wind picked up while we were out, but it was still lovely.

At 11am, we (and one family plus two couples) took the outrigger to a different island, where we were left off on a perfect (perfect!) white sand beach. It has the sand like silica, so soft and never too hot. I buried my toes in it and refused to move.

But I did move, because the ocean was so tempting. I swam while Paul snorkeled. It was a bit choppy, so it was fun to try to float and keep from being swamped by the waves. The water was mostly deep enough, but once or twice in the deep troughs my feet scraped against the coral. Paul said the snorkeling was good – some interesting fish, some excellent coral shapes, although the color of the coral was mostly brown. Parrot fish, clown fish in anemones, schools of small silver fish.

We had a picnic lunch … sitting at a table, our servers opened a large picnic basket to produce appetizers, salad, bread, and fruit. Roasted fish and pork were served hot off the grill. Tasty food, and a beautiful, pleasant setting.

We rested for a while, enjoying the breeze, then we went swimming/snorkeling again.

Around 2:30pm, the outrigger reappeared to take us back to Miniloc.

We read, I showered, and then we enjoyed happy hour again. Then dinner. Then read in the palapas. Then bed and sleep.
