Is it any wonder there are so few tourists in Palawan it is soooooooooo hard to get here. In typical cheap as chips fashion I had us leaving the Gold Coast via Kuala Lumpur into Kota Kinabalu for the 1st night then to Manilla for night 2 and a itty bitty plane to Coron Palawan for the official start to our 10 week adventure.... read more

When we woke up in the morning, we found out that it’s quite windy and the current was quite high as well. We made breakfast, strolled at the island and attempted on climbing the highest peak—and succeeded !.The beach was so peaceful, there is nothing else you want to do, but just RELAX . But, since we still have places to go—so we got to say goodbye to this beautiful island. The lodge owner recommended us to go to the island’s extention, FOR FREE. That, off course we gracefully accepted. We loaded our stuff and headed for the island’s extension. And my jaw dropped when i saw this beautiful place. It’s even more serene than the banana island itself. And as usual, I was looking for a place up high for some attempts on good pictures. ... read more

It’s the start of our adventure and we were excited. My friend had booked the airport taxi to pick us up at 5 o’clock to the Domestic airport. Those cabs costs 550 pesos. You can choose between the ordinary car type, or an Innova type—and it still costs the same. However, we went to the wrong terminal. So, we had to rush to get another cab and go to the new terminal where Air Philippines and Cebu Pacific airlines are departing. And that means we spend more 60 pesos more for the cab. The plane to Busuanga was on schedule . We rode Air Philippines flight, which we got at a discounted price of 2200 pesos each for a return ticket. Check their web here for more promos on more destinations. Terminal fee for domestic flights ... read more

That boatman, Allan and his assistant prepared the food for us. We snorkelled at two Japanese Wreck. The corals on one of the wreck are beautiful. The third day, again with the same crew, we went to the South, Malcapuyo and Banana Islands. The pictures may tell you the beauties of the beaches. On the way back, Cengiz’s hat flew into the sea. Our great captain , Allan was able to get it after an hours try. On every island one has to pay entrance fee which adds up quite a significant amount. To get to Coron we chose the ferry route which was surprisingly comfortable despite opting for the equivalent of 2nd class. We chose Superferry to sail with and it was a 15 hour crossing from Manila to Coron Town on Busuanga Island, part of the Calamianes group in Northern Palawan. We had reserved bunks and after a quick swap with another passenger so we could have adjacent top bunks, eating our disgusting included meal which was basically pork fat in salt with rice we settled down to a good nights sleep and woke up at 6.30am when we docked. We'd pre booked our accommodation here but as our room wasn't going to be ready until midday we decided we'd hire out a bike and explore the island so we didn't waste one of our few days ... read more

I still remember how my Dad used to tell us how he hates riding small propeller passenger planes and I wasn’t expecting that I was gonna ride one today. I could hear the engine roaring outside during the entire flight and the plane making a clumsy stomp when we finally landed at the Busuanga Airport. The flight wasn’t too bad, thanks to the good weather, but I’d still rather ride the Airbus! Our tour guide Ate Cristy and Kuya Joseph (our driver) picked us up at the airport. It’s about 45 minutes ride from the Busuanga Airport to Coron town proper on mostly dirt road. I was quite impressed with the unexploited country side and the rich greenery. As excited as we were, we started the tour immediately and went to our first stop at Mabentangin ... read more
